Curious what horses can teach us about ourselves?

This Saturday, we’re hosting a free Horse & Human Connection Demo Day in Marana.

It’s a relaxed opportunity to meet the horses, see this work in action, ask questions, and learn more about how horses can support self-awareness, confidence, connection, healing, and leadership.

No horse experience is needed, and there’s no riding involved.

Just come as you are and see what the horses have to offer.

Saturday, October 24
10-11:30 a.m.
Marana, AZ
Free event

Message me for details or to RSVP. 💜

Want to know what I notice with the horses?

Showing up takes courage.

Showing up without the mask. Without the defenses. Without pretending you have it all figured out.

Showing up as you truly are in the moment can feel scary… But that’s also where the real connection happens.

The horses don’t need the polished version of us. They respond to what’s real.

And when we’re willing to be present as we are — uncertain, emotional, hopeful, tired, whatever is actually there — something shifts.

Connection gets deeper. The work gets more meaningful. And we give ourselves the chance to be met exactly where we are.

Showing up takes courage.

But it’s worth it.

And yes, Huckleberry likes to nibble my bracelet. 😂

Sometimes three deep breaths can change an entire interaction.

When we’re frustrated, distracted, nervous, or trying too hard, our bodies change—and horses often notice before we do.

One of the simplest things I use is deep breaths.

Three deep breaths to slow down. Three deep breaths to come back into my body. Three deep breaths to reconnect with the horse in front of me instead of the outcome in my head.

Then I can ask again. Try again. Move forward from a different place.

It sound simple because it is. But simple doesn’t mean insignificant. Sometimes changing the interaction starts with changing the state we’re bringing into it.

Sometimes you just need a few hours where nobody needs anything from you.

A chance to slow down. To notice what’s been sitting underneath the noise. To laugh, connect, breathe, and spend some time with the horses.

Our Held by the Herd Women’s Equine Gestalt Group is this Saturday, October 17 from 9–12 in Marana.

No horse experience needed. Come as you are.

$60 | Message me if you’d like a spot. 💜🐴

Apparently “just be yourself” has consequences. 😂

There’s usually some laughter, some tears, lots of truth-telling… and, of course, the horses get involved.

Honestly, that’s part of what I love about this work. We don’t come out here to be perfect. We come as we are, and the horses meet us there.

Want to know what I notice with the horses?

They don’t care about our agenda.

I was brushing Rosie’s mane and for a moment I stopped being with her and started through my to-do list in my head. Almost immediately, she got antsy and reached over with her nose to get my attention.

Like: hey. You’re here.

That’s the thing about horses. They notice when we leave the moment, even if our body is still standing right beside them.

And… they have a way of pulling us back to what’s actually happening instead of where our mind thinks we need to be next.

And apparently, Rosie had no interest in helping me mentally organize the rest of my day. 💜🐴

One thing I’ve come to trust about Held by the Herd is that the right women show up at exactly the right time.

Each arrives carrying her own story, walking through her own season—and somehow finds pieces of herself reflected in the women beside her.

Here, with the horses, there is room to breathe. To laugh. To be honest. To feel understood and supported without having to explain every piece of yourself.

You don’t have to have anything figured out. You don’t need to perform. Simply show up as you are and spend a few hours in the company of good women and wise horses.

Feeling pulled to join our group? Maybe this is your time. 💜

Our next Held by the Herd Women’s Equine Gestalt Group is Saturday, October 17, from 9 a.m.–noon in Marana. The investment is $60. Message me with questions or reserve your place.

“I’m not good enough.”

“What if I fail?”

These thoughts are so much more common than we admit. But having the thought doesn’t make it true.

Horses help us see the truth beneath the fear. They bring us out of that loop in our heads and back into the present—where we can reconnect with what we know deep down.

Lil Wayne may be small, but he has a huge heart… and just enough magic to help us reconnect with our own. 💜

Do you want to know what I've noticed with the horses?

People often think they need to feel calm before they can connect. So they take a deep breath, soften their voice, and try to look like they've got it all together.

But sometimes the shift happens when they simply say, "I'm nervous." They stop working so hard to appear calm and can pay attention to what's actually happening–within themselves and with the horse.

We do this with people, too. All the time, for so many reasons. We try to look fine when we're not feeling fine inside. What we really need is a safe space to be honest.

You don't have to have it all together to connect. You can start right where you are. 💜
