Hi, Shanti Pappas here.

I want to tell you about the kind of conversation I have with almost every new client, because I think it might change how you look at your own symptoms.

Two women could come to me with the same complaint: bloating that shows up every afternoon. But when I start asking questions, their stories split apart.

The first is running on coffee until 1 pm and eating lunch at her desk between meetings. Her body is living in stress mode, and when that happens, it moves out of "rest and digest" and digestion slows way down.

The second has been on an acid reducer for years. Stomach acid is what helps us break down protein, so when there's less of it, food can sit longer and ferment.
Same bloating. Completely different root causes. If I handed them both the same plan, one of them wouldn't get better.

So my first sessions cover a lot of ground: how you sleep, what a regular Tuesday looks like, what medications you take, and what was happening in your life when things changed. Labs help too, and they make so much more sense next to your story.

If you've ever felt like a list of symptoms instead of a whole person, I'd love to hear your story. Comment STORY and I'll send you the link to book a free Discovery Call. πŸ’›

Can we talk about digestion for a minute?

Maybe it's bloating. Maybe you feel sluggish after meals. Or maybe something just feels off and you can't put your finger on it. You are not imagining it, and I'd rather start with the foundation than chase symptoms.

That's why I'm sharing what's inside bone broth. Simmering bones slowly releases collagen, gelatin, glycine, proline, and minerals that support connective tissue, including your gut lining. And a warm cup helps your body slow down, which your gut really appreciates.

Swipe through, and share it with a friend who could use it.

So tell me, what's the one digestion struggle you wish would just go away?

Have you ever been on a plan and wondered, "When does this end?"

I hear it from clients all the time, and I felt it myself in my earlier years of dieting. It sounds like a simple question, but it usually means the approach isn't built for real life.

Here's the functional nutrition piece: when eating feels like a strict set of rules, your body can interpret that as stress. Over time, that can show up in your blood sugar, your energy, your cravings, and your digestion. It's not a lack of willpower. It's physiology.

I wrote about a gentler way to think about this, and there's one question in particular I wish every client asked herself.

A client story I love sharing. πŸ’›
Emily had struggled with sleep since she was a kid. After about 4 months of working together, she was sleeping 8 hours a night, uninterrupted, and she credited changing her diet.

I'm still so proud of her. So many women tell me they've accepted broken sleep as just part of life, and I get it. But what we eat can play a big role, and so can how your digestive system reacts to those foods. Your gut and your nervous system are in constant conversation. When we support digestion and calm that stress response, sleep can follow.

If you're tired of tossing and turning, I'd love to help. Book a free consultation with me at happybellyhealth.com, and tag a friend who needs better sleep. πŸŒ™

This was my plate this morning: eggs, cheese, cherry tomatoes, and a few savory sides. It's a simple breakfast, but it's a great example of how I encourage women to start their day with protein.

Protein digests more slowly than many quick carbs, helping you feel satisfied longer. Pairing protein with a balanced meal can also support steadier blood sugar levels and help reduce those sudden hunger pangs that send you reaching for snacks. When your body gets the nourishment it needs, managing cravings can become easier.

Can I ask you something? What kind of help do you need most with your mornings and your energy right now?

I ask because I hear the same story from so many women. They start the day with oatmeal, yogurt and granola, a fruit smoothie, or avocado toast. All good foods, but all mostly carbs. By 10 am they're dragging, by 3 pm they're crawling toward the coffee pot, after dinner they're digging for something sweet, and then they're wide awake at 3 am. Maybe that's you, and if it is, I see you.

That pattern isn't a willpower problem. It's blood sugar. When breakfast is mostly carbs, glucose spikes and then drops, and each drop tells your body to release cortisol and adrenaline to rescue you. That's the wired, hungry, craving feeling. When you start with 25-30 grams of protein instead, blood sugar stays steadier, cravings quiet down, and your body doesn't have to stay in stress mode all day. That's often when weight starts moving too.

Monica came to me tired of feeling stuck. Five months in, she's 30 pounds lighter and a million times happier. The happier part is what I care about most.

So what do you need most right now: energy, cravings, sleep, or the number on the scale?

Ever feel bloated, itchy, foggy, or wiped out after a meal and have no idea why? You're definitely not alone, and so many women I talk with have the same frustration.

The instinct is to start cutting foods left and right. But when you remove a dozen things at once, your body can't give you clear answers. Here's where I always start: track what you eat and how you feel for a week or two, change one thing at a time, and look at the gut, not just the food. Reactions often point back to gut inflammation, and supporting that root cause is what helps you eat more freely again.

Swipe through for the 3 simple steps. What's the symptom that shows up most after you eat? Share it in the comments, and tag a friend who's tired of guessing.

Did you know the bones from tonight's dinner can become one of the most nourishing foods in your kitchen?

I've been teaching clients this for years, and it never gets old. Slow simmered broth carries collagen and amino acids that help support the gut lining, and sipping something warm helps your body shift out of stress mode so digestion can do its job.

I put together my full guide, including which bones to choose and how to know when it turned out right. I'd love to hear whether you grew up with broth on the stove.

One more late-night search. One more forum post. One more "this worked for me" from someone online. And at the end of it, you're not actually any closer to understanding your own body. Just more tired, and maybe more worried about it.

Here's the thing: all that searching and worrying can become its own stressor, keeping your body in a heightened state that makes digestion and hormones even harder to balance. The answer was never going to show up in one more search. It's in looking at your actual patterns with someone who knows what to look for.

Here's something I wish more people knew: your digestion starts in your mouth, not your stomach.

When you chew well, your body gets the message to release saliva and digestive enzymes. That's the first domino. When we eat on the run, that step often gets skipped, and our gut ends up doing extra work.

I put together a Bok Choy Apple Slaw that makes chewing the whole point. It's crunchy, fresh, and takes just 7 minutes.

Who else could use a lunch that is easy and kind to your gut? comment CRUNCH and I'll send you the full recipe link. πŸ’›
