Another Chance Animal Rescue

Another Chance Animal Rescue 501c3 Non-profit Animal Rescue We are Open on Saturdays from 10am -2pm for adoptions & weekdays by appointment ONLY, please call ahead! A Shelter without walls... because every animal deserves another chance. 501(c) non-profit

Mission: We believe that with some temporary assistance, many animals can remain in their current homes instead of being admitted to animal shelters. We believe in helping pets and our county by providing temporary supplies of pet food to families suffering from unemployment, seniors on fixed incomes and families that are dealing with chronically illnesses where resources are tightly dedicated. These services may be made available from a pet food bank established for this specific purpose. We believe in providing a low cost spay/neuter program for the people of York County for the purpose of reducing unwanted births and unfortunate deaths of animal offspring. We believe in providing emergency funds for intervention in medical services for injured pets that are salvageable and would live a full normal life with appropriate medical services provided in a timely manner. We believe in offering temporary foster care for pets whose care providers may need to get short-term hospital care. Many seniors and chronically ill patients will put off necessary health services for lack of a safe haven for their pets. This service will provide piece of mind speeding the recovery of seniors or chronically ill patients that may wish to take advantage of this service. From our food bank we shall provide the necessary food and shelter for pets placed in our temporary care. We believe in helping pets through temporary care & sheltering for abused persons in battered shelters.

We would like to apologize for our lateness in answering the telephone messages. We have lost several of our volunteers because of the quarantine, We, therefore, need to spend more time caring for the cats and kittens and other jobs are put on the back burner. We will get caught up. Oh did anyone catch “kittens”. Stay tuned.

Just a reminder to everyone...we are still trying to get our PayPal account straightened out. We ask that instead of PayPal, donors should mail a check to 251 Country Club Road , Sanford Me 04073. These things take forever to sort out out and we want to make sure your donation gets to the cats in our care.
Thank you for your patience.

We are getting numerous requests for kittens. It’s that time of year. Unfortunately there won’t be as many kittens available since we are unable to import kittens from southern shelters as we have in the past. Quarantines are still in place and travel between states is prohibited. We do have a list of potential adopters which is quite long. If you would like to add your name to the list, please download the adoption application form from our website ‘’, fill it out and mail to 251 Country Club Road in Sanford 04073 or send as an attachment through messenger. We will review your app and place you on the list. We do have wonderful cats under 5 years who would make wonderful companions and not scratch the furniture, climb up the curtains, cry at 3 in the morning, or make a total mess of your house. Remember, babies grow quickly.

In the last few weeks we have received numerous donations that have arrived by mail. Unfortunately no names were attached to these donations. Whoever send them, thank you, we greatly appreciate your kind gesture.

I have read each comment and loved many of the suggested names. One stuck that I felt best suited this sweet kitten. Her name is now Glory. Thank you all for your suggestions.

Our PayPal account has been compromised. Please if making a donation sent it to ACAR, 251 Country Club Road, Sanford, Maine 04073

I want to thank each and everyone of our volunteers, donors, adopters and my sister, Karen, for standing by Another Chance during the last few months. You all have given so much to our cats and kittens. Without question we have the best group there ever was. I am proud to call all of you my friends, you are always there when we need you and give 100% each and every time. Thank you from my heart. Keep safe.

Help! With everything else going on in the world, we find ourselves running out of wet cat food for our sweet cats. They really do love Friskies Pate in any flavor, and wet food helps keep them hydrated. Could you spare a few cans to help us out? Or have some cans shipped to us? Address is Another Chance, 251 Country Club Road, Sanford Me 04073. Some online retailers are running out or their prices have gone through the roof. A gift card mailed to us from Walmart, Target. Petsmart, etc will enable us to purchase what we need also. A check marked ‘for food’ would also work. Thank you for standing with us in the past and being patient with us a we reorganize. We appreciate your support.

ACAR will only be taking potential adopters by appointment only for the next few weeks. Please be safe and we will hopefully be open to the public in a few weeks.

***Attention***. Another Chance has changed our board member. Our new treasurer is Lynn Kasch. Amanda Bristol is no longer with us. Any donations will be accepted at 251 Country Club Road, Sanford, Maine. 04073. Thank you for your support.

Another Chance is going through some restructuring. You will see new faces where previous volunteers are no longer with us. Please be patient and we will be back soon. Appointments can be made to see cats and kittens and this week (Saturday) we will be open 10 to 2 for adoptions. The thrift store will not likely open until the first of April but I will keep you informed. We value each and every customer we have so hang in there, we will be back soon. Please call Marilyn with any questions or concerns at 207/490-2855.

Another Chance’s adoption center will be closed on Saturdays until further notice. We will, however, make appointments to see our cats. If you are interested in adopting please call Marilyn at 207/490-2855 or Mary at 207/467-5399. Thank you and I look forward to seeing you.
