I had my gallbladder out at twenty, and nobody asked why someone that young had gallstones. I didn’t ask either. I thought it was bad luck.

Recently, in a root cause consultation, a client described a constant ache under her right ribs. It was tolerable, but it never went away. Certain foods set it off, her energy was low, and her digestion had changed.

Her last ultrasound was ten years ago. It showed polyps, and the plan was to wait and watch. So the first step was an updated ultrasound and full blood work, since she hadn’t had labs in over a year.

The polyps had grown, and there were stones now too. Her blood work showed autoimmune activity, high cholesterol, and a thyroid that wasn’t keeping up. A sluggish thyroid can raise cholesterol and slow bile flow, which sets the stage for sludge and stones.

The good part is that there isn’t much inflammation yet, and her bile ducts look okay. She’s meeting with a gastroenterologist, and alongside that care, we’re building a nutrition plan to support her gallbladder, bile flow and thyroid.

Symptoms are signals, not the whole story. Liver and bile flow are one of the steps in my Signature Method, because I know what it costs when nobody connects the dots.

If a symptom of yours was brushed off as random, this is where we start. My Hashimoto’s Root Cause Consultation is a 60-minute session where we look at your symptoms, history and patterns together, and map out what to check next.

Your TSH is “normal.” You take your meds every morning. So why are you still this exhausted?

For many women with Hashimoto’s, the missing piece is Free T3, the active thyroid hormone your cells use for energy, focus and memory. T4-only medication relies on your body converting T4 into T3. When that conversion struggles, a normal TSH doesn’t tell the whole story.

That’s why I always look at Free T3 and more, not just TSH.

💡 Quick tip: if you take biotin or a hair-skin-nails supplement, pause it for a few days before your blood test.As it can skew thyroid results.

👉 Comment LABS and I’ll send you the exact thyroid panel to ask for with optimal ranges.

This is education, not medical advice. Please don’t change your medication without talking to your prescriber.

Good supplements can still be the wrong supplements.

Lately I’ve had several new clients show up with a bag full of bottles. Quality brands, picked with good intentions, from a podcast, a post or a friend’s recommendation. When I ask which ones are helping, the answer is usually “I’m not sure.”

Some can work against you. High-dose biotin, common in hair supplements, can interfere with thyroid lab results. Iron taken without knowing your levels can cause more problems than it solves.

There is no magic pill, and that includes supplements. They work best with a strategy: the right one, at the right dose, for the right length of time, based on your own biology.

I hope this is helpful. If you know someone who’s becoming a collector of supplements, send this to them.

If you wake up between 2 and 3am most nights and you’ve decided that’s just how you sleep now, I’d stop calling it normal.

I see this a lot with women who have a thyroid condition. Tired all morning, wired at night, and a sleep pattern that never quite restores them.

One thing it can be is a blood sugar dip overnight. When your blood sugar drops, your body can release cortisol and adrenaline to bring it back up, and that surge is what pulls you out of sleep with a racing mind and no way back under.

Here’s where I’d start:

1. A small snack with protein and fat about an hour before bed, like nut butter, a handful of almonds, or a hard-boiled egg.

2. Protein at breakfast, since a sugary or carb-heavy start tends to set up the afternoon crash.

3. 10 to 15 minutes outside in the first hour after you wake up, because morning light helps set your cortisol rhythm so it can ease off at night.

This is one piece of the picture, and it looks different for every woman, which is why I go through your labs and symptoms together.

If you want me to go through yours, comment ROOT CAUSE and I’ll send you the link to book a Hashimoto’s Root Cause Consultation. It’s a private 60-minute session, where we look at your labs and symptoms together and map out what your body needs next.

A 77-year-old client came to me with Hashimoto's, no gallbladder, years of constipation and bloating. His stool test showed three patterns that a probiotic or a scoop of collagen was never going to touch.

His f***l fat was 87.2 when the top of the range is 37.5, so a large share of the fat he ate was leaving his body undigested. Without a gallbladder, bile no longer arrives in one strong release when a meal does, and fat digestion pays the price, along with vitamins A, D, E and K that need fat to be absorbed.

His gut inflammation marker, S100A12, came in at 145.5 against a limit of 50, and his secretory IgA, the immune defense lining his gut, was well above range. With Hashimoto's, an immune system on high alert in the gut is part of the whole picture.

I had my own gallbladder removed at twenty with no explanation, so I know how easy it is to be handed a pill and sent home.

We started with digestion. He's no longer constipated, he has more energy, and his brain fog has improved.

Symptoms are signals, not the whole story, and testing shows you which signal to follow first.

If you're bloated, constipated and done guessing, reach out to dig into what could be behind your symptoms.

I was at an event this weekend, 11 people in the room, and 8 of them had their gallbladder removed.

Ages 30 to 87. It didn’t matter. Everyone had some version of the same story, digestive pain, bloating, IBS that never really went away.

I’ve been there too. My gallbladder was removed years ago, and no one ever told me why.

Here’s what I keep seeing, over and over. Symptoms show up first. The exhaustion, the bloating, the hair loss. Labs can take months, sometimes years, to catch up to what your body’s already telling you.

So instead of waiting for a number to get flagged, I look at the pattern in your bloodwork, the direction it’s moving, alongside what you’re actually feeling.

Comment ROOT CAUSE and I’ll send you the link to talk through your own labs and symptoms.

In 60 minutes this Friday, you’ll walk away knowing why your Hashimoto’s symptoms haven’t fully resolved even with the right medication, what’s happening in your gut that’s slowing down thyroid hormone conversion, and what a GI-MAP test actually shows.

Free, live, September 25th at 12pm PST.

Your labs came back normal again.

But you’re still exhausted by 2pm, your hair is thinning more than it used to, and no one on your care team has explained why.

That gap between normal and optimal is where I live and where I work.

On September 25th I’m walking through what actually drives Hashimoto’s symptoms even when the bloodwork looks fine: the gut connection, the inflammation nobody’s testing for, and the patterns that get missed when a doctor only checks TSH.

36 people are already registered. If you’ve been told you’re fine and you don’t feel fine, this is for you.

Some things I’ve learned that I thought you needed to hear.

Normal labs and optimal function are not the same thing. Your afternoon crash is often your liver struggling to keep up, not a caffeine problem. And if you’re bloated no matter what you eat, your gut and your thyroid are more connected than most people realize, a real portion of thyroid hormone conversion actually happens in your gut.

High cholesterol isn’t automatically about eggs, it can trace back to sluggish bile flow or a thyroid that hasn’t been fully worked up. And if you have Hashimoto’s, more supplements rarely fix it on their own, your thyroid is responding to inflammation, blood sugar, nutrient status, and stress all at the same time.

I’m walking through exactly how the gut and thyroid connect in a free masterclass, “Why Your Hashimoto’s Isn’t Improving Even When You’re ‘Doing Everything Right,’” September 25th at 12pm PST.
