Finding what’s driving cognitive decline is only the beginning.

Then you have to do something about it.

That’s why we developed The Carroll Cognitive Method™ around three distinct phases:

RECLAIM.
Identify what’s happening and investigate WHY the brain is declining.

RESTORE.
Address the important contributors driving the decline while using functional neurology rehabilitation to work on rebuilding neurological pathways that have lost function.

RENEW.
Protect the gains you’ve made and continue building on them for the long term.

In simple terms:

Find the problem.
Address the drivers and rebuild function.
Protect what you’ve gained.

Finding the cause is critical—but finding the cause is only half the job.

At The Carroll Institute in Sarasota, our goal is not simply to give cognitive decline a diagnosis. We want to understand why it’s happening, address the important contributors, rehabilitate neurological function, and then work to preserve those gains.

That’s The Carroll Cognitive Method™.

RECLAIM. RESTORE. RENEW.

The same symptom does NOT mean the same problem.

Imagine two cars that won’t start.

One has a dead battery.

The other is out of gas.

The symptom is identical:
Neither car runs.

But the cause—and therefore the solution—is completely different.

Cognitive decline works the same way.

Two people may both struggle with short-term memory, word-finding, or confusion and still have very different factors driving those symptoms.

The symptom is a clue. It is not the cause.

This is also why focusing only on amyloid plaque can miss the bigger picture.

Reducing amyloid does not tell you what is driving that individual patient’s cognitive decline or address every factor affecting how that person's brain is functioning.

You have to identify the problem before you know what needs to be addressed.

At The Carroll Institute in Sarasota, we look beyond the symptom and the diagnostic label to investigate what is actually driving cognitive decline in each individual patient.

Because:
Same symptom. Different cause. Different treatment.

Don’t just treat the symptom. Find the WHY.

Two people can both have Alzheimer’s—and need completely different treatment plans.

Why?

Because the diagnosis doesn’t tell you what’s driving the decline.

One person may be dealing with insulin resistance and sleep apnea.

Another may have inflammation, mold exposure, hormonal problems, toxins, or entirely different contributors.

Same diagnosis. Different drivers.

So treating everyone with the same approach simply because they share the same diagnostic label doesn’t make sense.

At The Carroll Institute in Sarasota, we believe treatment should be built around the individual patient—not around the name of the disease.

First identify what’s driving the cognitive decline.

Then determine what needs to be addressed and in what order.

That’s personalized care.
