It is exciting to see my piece, "Beneath it All," that was on exhibit at the Muskegon Museum of Art's 94th Contemporary Art Exhibit. It is the piece on the wall in the center, and it is an inspiration to get started on my entry for the museum's 95th Contemporary Exhibit. Always challenging to choose what pieces to use for my entry. Today, I started a couple of paintings that might be the ones. It's always an honor to be among the artists that get to be part of this amazing show. At the same time, I'm always humbled by the artists whose works leave me completely blown away. If you have never seen this exhibit, put it on your "To Do List." It absolutely will not disappoint. Thank you, Muskegon Museum, for giving Michigan artists this incredible opportunity to share their work and connect with other regional artists!

Art and Liminal Space is a retrospect that explores my art and its connection with the theme of liminality. If the subject intrigues you, search for Art and Liminal Space, by Alisa E. Clark, on Amazon. Mindful of the ways we can share our passions with others. Grateful that I was able to express my passions in this fulfilling way.

If you have a moment, please support me by following me on Instagram. I made this label for Milford Memories: an upcoming art fair I will be selling and exhibiting my work in. I will be sharing posts about Milford Memories in the upcoming weeks and your "follow" will help me get the word out. Thank you for making Milford Memories an undertaking that's possible for me! And, I look forward to meeting other Suzanne Haskew Art Center members at the art fair.

Something about the intersection of art and spirituality? Hmmmm.... Pondering a new theme to explore for my next book. "Painting Memories" was the most recent theme I explored and brought through to publication. I'm in the percolation stage for determining what threads weave the last two years of my creations together. The process of reflecting on my art, writing about it, and sharing it with others is challenging but worth the grit and determination. When the whole project comes to fruition, it shapes my future work. It's a way of looking back, assessing the present, and pushing forward. This will be the fifth time I've gone through this process, and I don't expect to regret it. I'm always amazed at what I discover about myself and the wonderful ways other creatives respond to my story is a gift. Insight and new understanding is always discovered. Can't rush the process, though. The percolation stage can't be rushed. Gotta take my time. 🎨

I removed the original 2D image from the frame and started creating using the frame as the inspiration to start a new, diverse narrative quite different from the original story being told within it. I didn’t work only within the frame, however. I also moved beyond the frame to tell a larger story- expanding beyond the limitations of the frame's borders and reaching into the spaces beyond it. A frame that originally held a 2D work became a vessel for 3D relief: a place to freely combine 2D and 3D elements. I chose the inclusion of assemblage elements echoing times past. Mindful of these invitations for the viewer to remember, reminisce, and retell their stories.

Not sure how I left this one out as I shared the scenes from my "Ottillie's Basket Series." My wedding dress, my mother's pearls, and the stefana from my parents' wedding ceremony. Sorta an ode to my existence. Mindful that "this" had to happen for "that" (me) to happen. Makes me think about the "what ifs."

One assemblage in a long series of which incorporate historical memorabilia. I've been gathering family history inside a basket that journeyed with my grandmother from Straubing, Germany to Ellis Island in 1918. To navigate these memories, I stepped away from my more spontaneous approach to seek other perspectives to hone my vision. My goal was tointerlace our family narrative into a tangible form of art, making the basket not just a container, but a symbolic vessel. I'm excited to share the progression of this undertaking. This is the first of many scenes I captured inside "Ottilie's Basket." After I share the scenes, I will share the culmination of all the assemblages in one final project.

Thanks, Nadine, at for always doing a fabulous job putting me back together again! I always come in a bit disheveled and walk out with new confidence. I can always trust you to do a fabulous job cutting and styling my hair. What would I do without you?

My future holds a chance to create some more assemblage- if I don't poke myself with these scissors as I take this piece down! Some Assembly Required sent me home with new friends at in Milford, Michigan. I'm excited about that. Glad to be connecting with some local fellow creatives. Inspired by their bold creative spirits.

An “Iconostasis” is a portable, religious shrine. My Greek grandmother had one and it had icons like
the ones I saw in the Greek church: early recollection that nourished me spiritually and artistically- inspiring me to build my own “Iconostasis."

Six projects at once. Definitely less compulsive than I used to be. I'm also messier. Good thing my husband is a patient man since I've taken over his woodshop along with "mess bombing" my studio. I even trickled into the dining room. My mother said I left a trail she could follow to find me. Some things never change. Mindful that some of my changes are good.

The Some Assembly Required Exhibit is winding down. I'll be picking three pieces of my work up on Thursday. This is one of a series of the three pieces which were nested in recessed frames: a theme I chose after getting inspired at the The Suzanne Haskew Arts Center, The SHAC assemblage workshop. The future holds a chance to create some more assemblage with my new friends at SHAC. I'm excited about that. Glad to be connecting with some local fellow creatives. Mindful of how inspired I am by their bold creative spirits.

I'm overwhelmed by the natural world. I thought I'd pretty much seen everything, and then I stood next to this. The world is so much bigger than I can imagine. Mindful of the infinite possibilities.
