🍞💕 Meet “The Girls” — The Heart of Grace Customs Canning Co.! 💕

Have you ever wondered what makes our sourdough goodies so special? Well, allow me to introduce you to the hardworking ladies behind it all… The Girls! 🥰

Here’s a little fun fact and backstory about how our sourdough journey began!

When I first decided to dive into the wonderful world of sourdough, I didn’t start with just one starter. Nope, apparently I like to make things complicated, so I started with THREE! 😂

🍞 One made with rye flour

🍞 One made with whole wheat flour

🍞 One made with a mixture of flours

The plan was simple: experiment with all three and see which one would become the strongest, most reliable producer.

It just so happened that I started this little science experiment the same weekend Hurricane Helene was making her way toward Florida. So naturally, these ladies needed names!

💕 Helene — Named after the hurricane that kicked off our sourdough adventure.

💕 Marion — Named after my grandma.

💕 Virginia — Named after my husband’s grandma.

And just like their namesakes, each one had her own personality! Some would rise faster, some would stay risen longer, and some just seemed to do whatever they wanted. 😂

I watched, fed, tested, and compared them, waiting for one to prove she was the clear winner. But as time went on, there really wasn’t a significant difference between them.

So what did I do? I combined all three into one big, happy sourdough family and officially renamed them “The Girls!” 💕

And the rest is history!

Now, here’s where you might think I’m a little crazy…

The Girls have been fed EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. since the day they were born! Not once have they been tucked away in the refrigerator to go dormant.

And yes, before you ask… they even go on vacation with us! 🤣🏖️

Why? Because I have this completely irrational fear that if I put them in the fridge, I’ll somehow kill them. Do I know that’s not how sourdough starters work? Absolutely. Does that stop me from packing them up like another member of the family when we travel? Absolutely not! 😂

At this point, they’re basically our most spoiled family members.

But you know what? I may be a little biased, but I truly believe The Girls make some of the BEST sourdough goodies around! ❤️

From our artisan sourdough loaves to our cookies, scones, brownies, and all the other delicious treats they help create, there’s a little bit of Helene, Marion, and Virginia in every batch.

And I think that’s pretty special. 🥹💕

So the next time you’re enjoying something sourdough from Grace Customs Canning Co., just know there’s a whole lot of love, a little family history, and three very spoiled ladies behind every bite!

Now I have to know… fellow sourdough lovers, have you named your starter? And please tell me I’m not the only crazy person who takes theirs on vacation! 🤣👇

We received such GREAT feedback from the first recipe we shared, we figured we’d do it again! 🥰🍽️

This time we’re sharing our quick and easy Crispy Parmesan Ranch Chicken 🤤🐓 A creamy, ranchy Parmesan chicken topped with a golden, buttery panko crust and of course, seasoned with our Grace Customs Steak Dust. 🙌

One thing that makes it even better? We pick up our farm-raised chicken from Frogfeet Farms! 🐓🌾 They offer both whole chickens and chicken breasts, fresh and frozen, and we love being able to support another local small business while putting quality food on our table. ❤️

Want to make the recipe yourself? You can pick up our seasonings, including our Steak Dust, at The Silo on Ayers🛍️ or message us directly to arrange pickup in Spring Hill!

And don’t forget the “Switch It Up” option on the recipe card 👀💙 Swap the Ranch for Blue cheese dressing, leave out the Italian dressing, then finish it with balsamic glaze and fresh Blue cheese crumbles. 🤌

If you make this one, let us know what you think and definitely send us a picture! 📸❤️
