My teenage daughters recently asked me, "Mom, when was the last time you got drunk?" It took me a while to even recall the last time I experienced a warm, buzzy feeling. I've come to realize that using substances to escape emotions prevents us from truly living in the moment. It's a habit I've worked hard to break, and it's one to which I never want to return.

So often we can get bogged down into the journey of healing our bodies - called so because it often takes place on what feels like a rocky road filled with twists and turns as we navigate changing our lifestyle habits or what feels like the constant bombardment of environmental stressors. We are human! Habits take time to form and we will have successes and failures - we just have to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and get back to work.

With that in mind, I've decided to embrace the spirit of Fall, specifically Halloween, and have created some fun ways to bring levity to the healing process.

All you have to do now is save the dates - notice we've even got a Saturday and some evening times!! Specific information regarding each event will be released starting tomorrow.

A new study from the University of Eastern Finland has shown that fewer cases of melanoma were observed in those who regularly take vitamin D supplements compared to those who do not. Bonus: Those taking also had lower risks of skin cancer.

So happy to finally have my body healed enough to where it will absorb all of the beautiful sunshine that is finally coming our way! This wasn't always the case so if you can relate and need help in this department, please reach out to either myself or a holistic practitioner near you.

If yes, this is the body's way of signaling there is the presence of either a virus (left hand) or bacteria (right hand). Pretty cool how the body speaks to us, isn't it?

How many chemicals are you wearing on a daily basis? I can honestly say I was both clueless and quite frankly didn't care about this for a long time.

But then, I learned that this number comes in at OVER 400 (and that's on the lower side) and that most of what is in our "feel good/look good" routines is actually tied into hormone disruption, allergies, neuro and organ toxicity, cancer, reproduction and development issues.

The good news is that although detoxing the old stuff was a lesson in humility for me, now that it's all out my skin has never looked better. If you need help doing the same and/or want to learn about clean products you should be using instead of the junk, please give us a shout.

Looking at the upcoming forecast 🥶and am sure hoping that everTyone remembers to continue supplementing their Vitamin D throughout the winter. That being said, here are a couple of things to keep in mind:

1) It is optimal to have levels closer to 80 (not the 30 minimum).

2) Choose a supplement that also contains Vitamin K (this helper tells it where to go).

3) Although tough when living in Michigan where the sun doesn't shine nearly as much as it does in other states, please remember that if your levels are low, YOU MUST ALSO CONSIDER HOW MUCH SUGAR YOU ARE EATING! Lots of sugar will lower those levels and may be the reason you have high blood pressure as Vitamin D will keep calcium in the blood rather than in the cell (and when that happens there goes the anti-viral properties of Vitamin D).
