Just learned its National I Love Horses Day I guess! Well that goes without saying around here.

Bart and Mac are enjoying the beautiful wildflowers in their pasture! The bugs..not so much 🤨. Fly spray, fly sheets and boots all around!

✝ Growing in Our Faith

There's nothing wrong with being ambitious. In fact, God expects us to use the gifts He's entrusted to us to serve and encourage others. The challenge is making sure our ambition remains centered on Him. If we're not careful, it can shift from serving God's purpose to serving our own.

Author Will Guidara asks the question, “What would you attempt to do if you knew you couldn’t fail?”

Martin Luther once said, “Faith is a living, daring confidence in God’s grace, so sure and certain that a man could stake his life on it a thousand times.”

Just wanted to share this sermon with you all. Have a great week everyone!

Listen to The Lutheran Hour this Sunday as Rev. Dr. Ryan Tinetti delivers the sermon "Journey Through Ambition" at lhm.org/lutheranhour, on our Connected by LHM app, or wherever you listen to podcasts.

✨️Adaptive Horesmanship:✨️

🔎Short definition: An inclusive approach to riding and working with horses that adapts instruction and equipment to meet the unique needs of people with disabilities.

While in a session we have rules to remember to stay safe, instruction to get through and skills to practice...but the warm up laps at the beginning of the sessions hold the best part of our time together. We have groomed the horse, lead the horse, put the tack on the horse, now we get to ride! We spend this time bringing ourself into the moment... Visiting is not a requirement..we do some deep breathing to find our center and relax if needed... find our balanced seat in the saddle...feel the movement of the horse...and, after hearing this precious statement come out of the blue from behind me while leading her, CLEARLY much more.

"I love my life....I'm a child of God!"

Uff..I leaked a few tears after that one. 🥹 Being on the back of a good horse brought this out in a child! How amazing is that! I have my belief but I do not feel qualified to try to explain it. I just read the good book and have faith. And I have faith in this work and where it will go.

Have a great weekend! We will be back in the arena on Monday!

This past week I had the opportunity to attend a Level 2 Parelli Natural Horsemanship Clinic, and it was an incredible experience. Its always great to learn from Jenny Trainor and visit Darcy Sandstrom at her beautiful home.

One of the things I value most, both personally and professionally, is the commitment to lifelong learning. No matter how much experience we have, there is always something new to discover, refine, and improve. This clinic challenged me to deepen my understanding of communication, partnership, and leadership with horses while continuing to build on the foundation of skills I have developed over time.

Professional development isn't limited to the workplace—it extends to every area where we strive for growth and excellence. Investing in education, seeking feedback, and embracing new learning opportunities helps us become better horsemen, leaders, and lifelong learners.

I am grateful for the knowledge shared, the connections made, and the opportunity to continue developing my horsemanship journey. Looking forward to applying these lessons and continuing to learn, grow, and improve every day.

Arena Happenings May recap! 🐴 (bit of a long post..oops)

We said "see ya later" to our Stanley Stanley Public School kiddos. We ended with talking about how sometimes we have "obstacles" in our day and that while prevention of some of those obstacles may be out of our control, we can control ourselves and how we react to it and that will determine our own peace. This is a big topic and it was not intended to go deep but the kids were a thinkin and I think got the jist. We played this out by having the kids use arena props to represent something in their day that was an obstacle. They could not tell me what the something was. They had to have obstacles that the horse could go through, over and around. Other than that they had to use their imagination. Once they created the obstacle course they had to lead their horse through it. The best part was, after the first time through they realized spots that needed to be "adjusted" (maybe a representation of how someones attitude about a situation needs to adjust to be able to navigate successfully through an obstacle in their day 🤔 ) to make it adapted to the horses needs for getting through the course (widening the distance between cones so the horse doesn't step on them for example) Great practice for problem solving skills, patience, empathy, teamwork, etc...etc. ALL of the kids that we got to spend time with this year did so incredible. I hope to see them again in the fall!!

Whether it is the school group or 1:1 sessions, Mac, Bart and the team enjoyed our time in the arena in May and look forward to a fun summer!

Jenna has been a great resource of information on Hippotherapy. She is an inspiration to me in bringing this great therapy modality to our community some day. Her video and interview is a great explaination of the categories of Equine Assisted Services. Great people doing great work!

What a nice surprise to be included on this! So...I guess I encourage everyone to vote for Journey Equine to help keep our amazing horses bellies full!
Mac and Bart show up for us each session and do their best. I am so incredibly blessed to have them with me to start this adventure. We are learning together and they aim to please every day!
Bart is our Grandpa of the program and Mac is our teacher. We are all doing our best to provide the unique horse-human connection experience and look forward to our future in our communities.
