Yes, another fundraiser! The need to keep our ambulances equipped with the best medical equipment to serve the Sumner community seems to never end. We have been informed that both of our ZOLL X series monitors in our ambulances have reached end of life service and need to be replaced. Each one has a price tag of $74,000. Through your generous donations and support of previous fundraisers we have enough monies to buy one of these at this time. We will continue having fundraisers, accepting donations and applying for grants to enable us to purchase the second monitor as soon as possible. Thank you for your support!! We couldn’t do what we do without the fantastic support of Support SEMS and their dedicated volunteers! We are thankful for them and the community and grant support they got for this project that allows us to be better providers and better serve this great community!

Our $54,000 Safe Transport and Accurate Dose Project is now complete with the delivery of the Stryker Cot 2 and the One Weight -One Dose Medication system. This will enable our SEMS crews to safely transport larger bariatric patients and to accurately weigh patients for accurate medication doses. We sincerely want to thank the community for their continued support, the Guernsey Grant Foundation and the Bremer County Grant Foundation for making this purchase possible.. Today we remember our fallen brothers and sisters, who when the call came in on that fateful 9/11 morning, responded and ran towards the danger in search of those that needed help. While a lot of those that rushed in didn’t come home, we can honor their memory in the way we act every day, on every call, and with every patient. Their selfless acts will not be forgotten and we celebrate their dedication to serving others.

This past Sunday, our team completed our annual Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) training.

EVOC is an important part of emergency medical services. Operating an ambulance in an emergency situation requires specialized skills, good decision-making, and an understanding of how to safely navigate changing road and traffic conditions. Our crews train on vehicle handling, emergency driving techniques, defensive driving, and other scenarios designed to help us respond safely and effectively when seconds matter.

And this isn’t a one-and-done training. We require our staff to recertify in EVOC every year, giving us an opportunity to continually refresh our skills, practice safe driving techniques, and prepare for the unexpected.

Ultimately, it all comes down to one thing: keeping our staff, our patients, and the public safe while navigating our roadways. ❤️

Also, huge THANK YOU to Life Line Emergency Vehicles for allowing us to use their parking lot to conduct this training in a safe, controlled environment. Having the room to practice and put these skills to work is incredibly valuable to our team!

We’re excited to share some great news from last night! Our team received a $10,000 grant from the Bremer County Community Foundation, and this support will make a real difference in the care we provide.

With this grant, we’ll be replacing an aging Stryker cot and outfitting the new one with a OneWeight OneDose scale system. This system gives our crews instant, accurate patient weights and medication dosing guidance—information that can truly shape outcomes during critical moments!

We’re incredibly grateful for this investment in our mission and in the wellbeing of our community. Thank you Bremer County Community Foundation, for helping us continue to move forward!
