REIKI: Right out of school I was privileged to work with a well known Reiki Master. Through the experience I learned more about the body, mind and ways to bring the body back to homeostasis through energy healing. Because I have clients who have experienced what they say is a feeling of Reiki during our sessions, I decided to officially get attuned last Sunday.

I am currently going through a 21 day detox. The rhythmical pattern of decline and regrowth is heavy, light… and currently on DAY 3 there are signs of exploration, wanting to connect with self and the high power through meditation and writing. I am healing and it is weighted with goodness!

Reiki works for the greater good. Reiki does not harm. During reiki, stored trauma held in the body from physical and/or mental injury is released. You may experience different emotions and symptoms. After reiki you may feel light/heavy or nothing at all. Then hours, a day, days, or weeks later you feel. Your body will go through a process of release and this experience is different for each individual.

Reiki is science like a mother’s breasts producing milk when a newborn cries. Reiki is not connected to a specific religion. It is a spiritual connection one has regardless of what religion/faith they follow. And it is a beautiful gift to give self.

With the passage of time and advancements in the world of medicine, cupping therapy evolved over time. Animal horns were slowly replaced by bamboo cups, which in due course were replaced with glass, metal or medical-grade silicone cups. However, the basic philosophy behind this ancient alternative healing practice remained the same, which is “to strengthen or activate the body’s natural self-healing powers, at times when they are not able to do so, on their own.” Cupping therapy involves creating a local suction on the skin by means of a mechanical device (hand or electrical pump) or heat (fire). The underlying skin is sucked or raised partway into the cup. As a result blood flow to the affected area is enhanced, which in turn activates the immune system, flushes the area, and stretches the tissue. This helps release pain and increase range of motion. Moreover, with the increase in the popularity and demand of complementary and alternative therapies, more and more people are turning to holistic treatment options such as acupuncture, remedial massage, myotherapy, reflexology, chiropractic, herbal medicine, and cupping. Today, cupping therapy is used to treat a wide variety of conditions, particularly those that cause muscle aches and pains.
