A big thank you to The Imlay Foundation for their generous $25,000 grant to support Spectrum Family Camp 2022 and our Neuro Diverse Partners support group for 2022!
In 1976, as CEO of MSA, John Imlay chose a key as the symbol to represent the phrase and company value of “People are the Key.”
Today, the symbol of the key and phrase, “People are the Key,” inspires John’s family and the Foundation more than ever.
The Imlay Foundation recognizes everything starts with people, their empathy and willingness to make a better community through real passion and hard work. We thank the Imlay Foundation for making a difference for individuals and families impacted by autism in our community.

Behavioral IoT

NACS is asking parents and caregivers of autistic children of any age to take part in this survey. They are collecting responses to better understand the needs for and potential uses of a wearable device (likely a smart watch) that can assist parents/caregivers when their children become dysregulated or overstimulated when out in the community. The hope is that this device will offer alleviation and prevention of undue stress and anxiety that can be triggered by unpredictable and chaotic community environments. Your responses will remain anonymous, so your candor is appreciated!

Mimi Argo-Laney - View Obituary & Service Information

It is with great sadness that I share the news of Mimi Laney’s passing. She was a long time member and supporter of Spectrum Autism Support group and an amazing mom and advocate. She was always willing to share support with others, a kind word and her beautiful smile. She will be greatly missed by many. Keep her family in your prayers.

Masking, sometimes also referred to as camouflaging, can be exhausting for people with autism and can prevent them from being their true selves. Masking is more common in girls and women on the spectrum and can even lead to delayed diagnosis or misdiagnosis of certain rigid or inflexible thinking as another condition more prevalent in women, such as depression or disordered eating.

Masking can look like...
🔵 Hiding feelings
🔵 Trying to act ‘neurotypical’
🔵 Imitating facial expressions
🔵 Bottling up anxiety
🔵 Holding in non-harmful stims

Let autistic people in your life know they can be their true selves around you, without feeling the need to mask.

Are you a parent of an autistic child? We want to hear from you! We are proud to share a meaningful partnership consisting of autistic individuals, parents of autism children, providers, payers, and researchers molded together to form the Autism Stakeholder Advisory Board. Our mission is to listen and learn from all partners invested in the Autistic Community, and in conjunction with our partners on the Autism Stakeholder Advisory Board, we are working to create a research agenda driven by the priorities of the Autistic Community as it relates to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services. To accomplish this, some members of the Autism Advisory board have interviewed autistic individuals who have received ABA services and parents whose children have received ABA to learn more about their experiences. Our Autism Stakeholder Advisory Board took this information and created a 10-minute survey. Please join us in our effort to shape the future research by sharing your priorities as it relates to Autism and ABA treatment. The information from this survey will be used by our Stakeholder Advisory Board to generate research questions that will be shared with the broader research community. Future research, collaboration autistic individuals and the larger autistic community as a whole will be influenced by the responses and insight received from this survey! Please click here (https://redcap.link/autism-parents) to complete the survey, or visit our website to learn more about this project (https://behaviorchangeinstitute.com/pcori)! If you provide your contact information at the end of the survey, you will be entered into a raffle to win a $50 gift card. The raffle will be conducted 30 days after the survey is closed and the drawing will be conducted by the Study Manager in Palo Alto, California. The chance of winning a prize is approximately 1 in 20. Participation in the study is not required in order to participate in the raffle. You can enter the raffle if you do not start or complete the study task. The winner will be notified immediately by email and provided with information on how to receive the prize.

Hello, my name is Keely Harding and I am a masters student at the University of Chester. I am looking for parents of autistic children and typically developing children to take part in my dissertation study. The study involves taking part in a 15 minute online survey on parental stress and self-compassion. To be eligible to take part, you must be at least 18 years old, live in the UK and be a parent to at least one child aged between 3-17 years old, that is either typically developing or is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Please do not take part if you have any other children diagnosed with any other neurodevelopmental disorder, such as ADHD or dyspraxia. The link below will take you to the survey. Thank you in advance.
