Yes with these hands…. It’s not uncommon to make a connection with clients. It’s a very intimate experience to tell someone about your pain, and fear. This gift of an old pain relief tablets came from a dear client whose family was involved with running a pharmacy. He came in for relief from drop foot, a nerve damaged preventing him to lift his foot to walk. He found relief from tightness in his back and stress from care giving his sick wife. His walking became smother stepping and once again at 86 he mounted his farm tractor and pulled trees to clear his land!

Benefits of Massage Therapy in the Winter...

Immune Boosting
Massage therapy increases lymph flow which is packed with white blood cells or “killer cells”. These “killer cells” fight off infections and bacteria, boosting your immune system during this time of year.

Dry Skin
Massage therapy is proven to improve skin hydration during these dry winter months. Oils and lotions used in massage contain healthy amounts of vitamin E and other vitamins. Massage therapy improves circulation, allowing your skin to absorb these essential vitamins, leaving you feeling nourished and hydrated.

Circulation
Massage therapy increases circulation to muscles, joints, and organs, warming up the body. Cold weather can bring on many discomforts, aches, pains and arthritis. Regular massage enhances blood flow, naturally lowering blood pressure and improving body function.

Winter Blues
Winter months decrease our opportunities to do our favorite activities, and can contributes to the winter blues. Regular massages enhances warmth and an overall state of well being. It makes you feel better! Massage therapy releases serotonin and endorphins, relieving stress and making you feel better.

These are perfect reasons to book a massage with one of the many wonderful massage therapists in Taylorville

As the 25 years of working with clients of all abilities this really stands out! Some people have these symptoms and think it is all separate causes. Take a look at how hyper mobility connects GI issues to flexible joints. And how being clumsy can be related to headaches!

PELVIC ANATOMY⁣

👨🏽‍💻Here we have an axial image of an MRI at the level of the pelvis (male)⁣

👨🏽‍💻Let’s look at some points in more detail...⁣

▫️We can see the iliopsoas muscle which is made up of the psoas major muscle and the iliacus muscle. This muscle is key in hip flexion - other muscles involved in hip flexion include the sartorius, re**us femoris and tensor fascia lata which we can see anterior to this⁣

▫️Have a look at the sartorius muscle - I like to think of this as the ‘sargeant’ of the muscles, standing at the front of the thigh. This is a long thin muscle, originating at the anterior superior iliac spine and spiralling round to insert at the medial surface of the proximal tibia⁣

▫️The levator ani muscle makes up part of the pelvic floor and is comprised of three muscles: the puborectalis, pubococcygeus and iliococcygeus muscles⁣

▫️Look at the femoral vein and femoral artery - note how the vein runs medial to the artery. The femoral vein becomes the external iliac vein at the inferior margin of the inguinal ligament⁣

Thinking through a bit on my MFR journey after a week of intensive. The last day I went and visited the Mutter Museum. This picture struck some curiosity. The picture is is depicting the “nightmare” or sleep paralysis. But for me it strikes up the over imposing fear “dragon” and the tightness in my chest “demon” that is propelled by the change in life over the last few years with a pandemic. How do I get the sucker to to jump off?? I connect with true self, higher power, God. Know that there is something bigger than me that I yearn to be a part of. I recognize that all is present and how terrible it is and then let it go! Sometimes I’ve got to fight it off, scream it out or completely pay attention! There is no change without awareness!

Injured in motion releases in motion! Myofascial therapy is not a pancake therapy!

"I have been going to Jeanette for massages for many years. Due to Covid/Omicron, I was not able to get to see her for some time.
Gradually my hip/leg/knee/foot started causing me pain. I did all the usual Dr. apts., MRI, steroid injections, etc. which lasted a bit and then the pain would return. I was finally able to get an appointment with Jeanette who stretched my hip and was able to walk pain free. After a second appointment I am walking pain free and have scheduled future appointments to keep healthy. I highly recommend Jeanette."
