When someone passes away, it can be devastating. A beloved elder or parent may have struggled for a considerable time before making a final exit. Even so, even when we know the inevitable is imminent, it's heartbreaking when they're gone. A friend or family member who passes too soon leaves you with...

All for one, and one for all. We are in this together, folks.

Many times we are brought into brain training because someone we love is suffering. Perhaps your significant other is experiencing a toxic work environment, leading them to lose sleep, and feel anxiousness or despondency. Maybe they're dealing with dependency of some kind that is straining your rela...

NeurOptimal® training can make holidays easier by helping you regulate your response to the hype.

Somewhere around September, it begins. In their efforts to hype the holidays (and make that $$holiday money$$), stores seem to skip right over Halloween to bring in turkeys and mistletoe. The Christmas carols start chiming in on Black Friday and the street corner Santas start ringing their bells for...

GOD, THIS IS BEAUTIFUL! TAKE THE TIME TO READ IT ❤️
As someone who writes often, I naturally appreciate epic writing when I see it. This morning, I came across this written piece of art and it moved me deeply, so I had to share it with all of you! Not only are these words true theatre, they also act as sound advice ❤️

my brain and
heart divorced

a decade ago

over who was
to blame about
how big of a mess
I have become

eventually,
they couldn't be
in the same room
with each other

now my head and heart
share custody of me

I stay with my brain
during the week

and my heart
gets me on weekends

they never speak to one another

- instead, they give me
the same note to pass
to each other every week

and their notes they
send to one another always
says the same thing:

"This is all your fault"

on Sundays
my heart complains
about how my
head has let me down
in the past

and on Wednesday
my head lists all
of the times my
heart has screwed
things up for me
in the future

they blame each
other for the
state of my life

there's been a lot
of yelling - and crying

so,

lately, I've been
spending a lot of
time with my gut

who serves as my
unofficial therapist

most nights, I sneak out of the
window in my ribcage

and slide down my spine
and collapse on my
gut's plush leather chair
that's always open for me

~ and I just sit sit sit sit
until the sun comes up

last evening,
my gut asked me
if I was having a hard
time being caught
between my heart
and my head

I nodded

I said I didn't know
if I could live with
either of them anymore

"my heart is always sad about
something that happened yesterday
while my head is always worried
about something that may happen tomorrow,"
I lamented

my gut squeezed my hand

"I just can't live with
my mistakes of the past
or my anxiety about the future,"
I sighed

my gut smiled and said:

"in that case,
you should
go stay with your
lungs for a while,"

I was confused
- the look on my face gave it away

"if you are exhausted about
your heart's obsession with
the fixed past and your mind's focus
on the uncertain future

your lungs are the perfect place for you

there is no yesterday in your lungs
there is no tomorrow there either

there is only now
there is only inhale
there is only exhale
there is only this moment

there is only breath

and in that breath
you can rest while your
heart and head work
their relationship out."

this morning,
while my brain
was busy reading
tea leaves

and while my
heart was staring
at old photographs

I packed a little
bag and walked
to the door of
my lungs

before I could even knock
she opened the door
with a smile and as
a gust of air embraced me
she said

"what took you so long?"

I love the freedom athletes find in training.

🏒 As Hockey season gets underway, we would like to once again thank NeurOptimal® Trainer Susan of Good Vibrations Neurofeedback for sharing this profound testimonial by pro-hockey player Jeremy Welsh:

"I am professional hockey player. I came in for neurofeedback after two concussions, more curious than "necessary" but I felt a little brain fog away from the ice in my daily life. The first few sessions were remarkable, driving home with my music on, windows down feeling pretty Zen. My training sessions on the ice became effortless and focused. I did not have this inner chatter, imagination and day dreaming loop between reps… just kinda brought it. I would say I started having real good/great training days much more easily and more often. When the pro skates and trading camp started I was scoring goals almost in an out of body experience, similar to times when I was "in the "zone" playing my best. When I'm off there’s a mental chatter between getting and releasing the puck. I noticed after the sessions it all just kind off happened, my body just took over and I was more instinctual, less "omg this it" or mental overrides. This is where athletes perform at their peak. It’s been great for me."

Can limiting beliefs be unlearned?

Your brain has billions of neurons, pretty close to 100,000,000,000 of these cells as an adult. Each neuron makes hundreds of connections to other neurons and the more often a connection is used, the stronger that connection becomes. Some of these connections are running your daily motor functions s...

My son sent me this article - hey Massachusetts trainers - anyone want to speak to these folks about brain training as an alternative? I think it should be used for the entire staff as well. https://news.yahoo.com/school-uses-electric-shocks-students-035645117.html

The new site is up - guess I got a Round Tuit.

I remember being in a gift shop in a random road-side attraction in the Midwest one Summer growing up. I found a most magical souvenir: A Round Tuit. As a young kid I thought it was amazing. My mom convinced me the dream catcher was more interesting and I let it go. But as time marched forward I fou...
