This is not AI.
And the fact that I even feel compelled to say that about a sunset over a lake in Michigan is… something.
I get it. I really do.
I worked in a world of data, code, systems and reporting for nearly 20 years. I was working with versions of what we now broadly call “AI” long before ChatGPT entered the conversation. I watched technology begin replacing pieces of my own career — and I chose to understand it, work with it and eventually embrace it.
I also understand the very real conversations happening around artists, writers, creators, jobs, energy use and environmental impact. There is a LOT worth questioning.
But maybe we can also make a little space between awareness and complete suspicion of everything we see.
Sometimes the sky really does this.
Sometimes Lake Michigan really looks completely fu***ng unreal.
Sometimes nature produces something more spectacular than any prompt ever could.
No AI. No generated sky. No fake sunset.
Just Michigan showing off.
Okay, soapbox over. 🌅
