Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) Airmen compete in various events during the 2020 Lightning Challenge at Reveille Peak Ranch in Burnet, Texas. During these events, the Airmen tested their abilities to effectively establish radio signals, marksmanship, and caring for and medically evacuating simulated patients. The Lightning Challenge is a service-wide competition where teams of two TACP specialists compete against each other to be named the best in the Air Force.

Training to be the best on the worst days.

Personnel from the 37th Airlift Squadron and 86th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron transport and treat a simulated injured individual during 2021 Aviation Detachment Rotation near Powidz, Poland, Oct. 22, 2020. The aircraft, containing simulated mass casualty patients, was flown to Ramstein Air Base, Germany, allowing injured patients to receive more adequate medical attention. The 86th AES personnel received instruction from the local validating flight surgeon to continue life saving intervention until the C-130J landed at RAB. In this exercise, 86th AES personnel provided care to the injured patient for more than one hour.

Exercises like MAX 20-20 sharpen combat capabilities, ensuring U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa units remain postured and ready for anything. Air Force medics are continuously looking for ways to improve response and defense capabilities.
