[cancer research day] Eric presented his work on lnRNA biosensors for badder cancer in the cancer research day today at Hershey medical center. In this work, Eric showed a new biosensor design that allows tracking of lnRNA in live cancer cells. Great job Eric!

[Bladder cancer organoids] Peter and Lilly's work on bladder tumor invasion is accepted to Analytical Chemistry. In this work, Peter and Lilly demonstrated a 3D organoid invasion technique for analyzing heterogeneous tumors derived from bladder cancer patients. [Science Advances] Hui’s SLIPS-LAB for rapid stone disease diagnostics is published in Science Advances today. In this work, we report a biologically inspired diagnostic system, SLIPS-LAB, for the metabolic examination of kidney stone disease in 30 minutes. It has the potential to significantly improve the current 24-hour urine test. Since the test result will be available immediately, such as during the office visit, it will tell the doctor the etiology of the disease and guide dietary and pharmacologic interventions. The doctor can also use the device to monitor the response of the patient to treatment and indicate the need for other treatment options. Congrats!

[Graduation] Congrats to Sara and Kiersten, who graduated in the past weekend. In SBL, Kiersten demonstrated a new nanoparticle biosensor design for single cell analysis and established a bioinformatic workflow for designing molecule probes. Sara spearheaded our industrial collaboration with spotLESS Materials, Inc. She designed the workflow for biofouling testing, established pathogen identification protocols, and performed bioinformatic sequence analysis of bacterial species. Congrats!
