Thinking of my little one today... They would have been three soon. I never stop thinking about this baby I lost.

Many have heard about the devastation done to WNC and rural parts of East TN.... What you HAVE NOT heard about is the very unsafe infant feeding practices going on. The CDC has guidelines on appropriate responses to infant feeding during disasters and these are not being followed. We need HELP to educate volunteers and provide individual support for families.

🍼Families are being given powdered formula without assessing if they have housing, access to clean water, or electricity.

🥪A mother showed up asking for formula out of fear for low milk supply... A rapid needs assessment revealed her supply was fine- but SHE had not eaten in days.

👶🏼 Another showed up with a 4-day-old baby in arms, she had planned to breastfeed but lost everything just before her baby was born.

Tax-deductible donations can be made to Tennessee Initiative for Equitable Health, a non-profit organization that will be providing financial support to these organizations:

Don't ever let anyone dim your light. Don't let anyone tell you that you don't have what it takes. You can do ANYTHING!

This morning, my daughter watched me put on my cap and gown and she said, "mommy, I want to wear that one day!" And I know she will. I want her to know that despite everything, she can do anything she sets her mind to... Just like I have 🥹

I'm so, so excited to expand my dream for Milk+Honey and all of the people who need the kind of healthcare provider I'm determined to be.

Now I start the prep for my Board Exam.... I'm hoping to take it before the end of next month!

Meet our Nineteenth Finalist for the 39th Annual Tribute to Women Awards: Jade Potter!

Nominated by Melanie Kondrat, Jade Potter is a passionate advocate for creating safe and inclusive spaces for everyone. Jade has made incredible strides in advocating for postpartum care, offering specialized support groups for POC parents, and helping Tennessee welcome its first Black IBCLC, Natasha Carr.

Her advocacy doesn’t stop there—Jade has also traveled to Nashville to fight for women’s healthcare rights. On top of her community work, Jade is pursuing her Nurse Practitioner degree to bridge the gap between lactation medicine and gender-affirming care, all while raising a family.
