Thought I’d repost this.
Drinking enough water & staying hydrated is important all the time, but when the hot weather is here it’s s even more so. With the heat, keep an eye on young children & the elderly especially, as they both are more susceptible to dehydration!

I feel very appreciative when people take the time to express how their gratitude. 😁

Thank you once again for booking John for me this morning. I just want to take a few minutes of your time to comment on the treatments I've been receiving from John for the past 3 weeks. Let me start by saying that unfortunately people tend to give feed backs only when a service is not to their liking and as a result people doing a great job often don't get the credits they deserve.

This message is to let you know that my medical issues have been accumulating over the past 30 years (as John so nicely pointed out) and up to this point no one has ever truly treated me the way John has. I've had Physiotherapists and Chiropractors treat my symptoms but no one has ever addressed the core issues causing my problems in the first place. Not to put a judgement on the whole Chiropractor profession but I've been to many Chiros and not one of them has ever examine my spine little own identify some core problems that John has been successfully addressing for the past 3 weeks.

I have a lot of respect for John and the way he delivers his treatments, the way he explains how and why my body is reacting a certain way and most importantly what I can do on my own to help my body to right itself.

Even though the circumstance leading up to my first meeting with John were painful and all to familiar to me, these past 3 weeks have been the best treatments I have ever received since my first back injury 30 years ago. John has changed the way I look at fitness and how to take care of my body. I truly hope that I will be able to find someone half as good as John when I get back to Canada so that I can keep my body/fitness on the current path.

I would like to also thank you and your practice for truly caring about your patients and always putting their wellbeing first.

Thank you for your time and have a great day.

Sincerely,

MOVEMENT is FUNDAMENTAL to our SURVIVAL.

Osteopathy tries to create movement for all the cells of your body & so reduce any regions of blockage & restore proper function.

Although physical movement helps, there can still be areas of stagnation. Even a small area with reduced movement (eg blood to a cell) will lead to a toxic environment. If a cell dies & isn’t moved away it will create an environment hostile to the surrounding cells. This can then lead to a larger area & ‘dis-ease’ occurs.

Most people think of movement as stretching, walking, exercising etc. Which it is, but it is much more! We need movement of blood through the vessels, fluids into the tissues to supply individual cells, food to transit through & be processed in the gut & waste eliminated, air to travel in/out through the respiratory tract. There’s lots more, but basically we need movement down to the cellular level.

Lots of people now are sedentary for a large part of their days, sitting at a desk all day, lots of driving, etc & although they may move, it’s usually a small percentage of the time they spend sitting. It’s still good to do though, so keep it up.

Did you know?

Osteopaths don’t just treat bad backs, that is what most people think & it is the majority of what we see, but definitely not the case. Osteopathy can also treat elbow, knees, shoulders & ankles & everything else. If it is part of you, inside or out, we can affect it.

We can treat pain from environment, sitting at a desk, not moving, injuries from sport/activities or accidents, arthritic pains etc. We can also help with other things though, headaches & migraines, abdominal & digestive problems, respiratory issues. Parkinson’s disease & M/S symptoms can be improved with treatment & improve a persons daily life. Basically we treat the whole body. Because the whole body works together.

Osteopathy was actually developed by an American doctor (Andrew Taylor Still) in the mid to late 1800s. Not as a treatment for pain, but to help with the diseases of the day, that were very much life threatening. Today they can be treated with medications, but that doesn’t mean that osteopathy isn’t a valid adjunctive.

This is not to say that we can cure all that ails you, but we can usually improve things with less pains & better movements. Osteopaths are all people & so are not all the same or treat the same, this is true with any other profession or medical practitioner, this is why it is important for you to find an Osteopath who suits you as this is about you - the patient, and getting the most from your treatment.

*Please note this is just a general factual overview to help introduce and familiarize. It is not an in-depth discussion on any treatment.

Now Accepting Appointments 👍🏻!

Some of you already know me, as I’ve been a classical Osteopath in Barbados for the last four & half years. I’m now opening my own clinic - OsteopathJohn and I’m expecting to be treating again officially from the 15th June however if you wish an earlier treatment please contact me.

Just In case you may have never heard of Osteopathic Medicine before or you’re wondering what an Osteopath does. First off, Osteopaths don’t just treat bad backs, although that is the most common complaint especially now after a pandemic lifestyle that has forced many of us to work from home with limited movement, which in turn has impacted our mobility at least or largely in part, from desks & computers. However, we also treat pain from injuries, OA, mechanical deficiencies as well as helping with IBS/digestive disorders, headaches/migraines, respiratory conditions. We can usually help with a condition, even if we can’t ‘cure’ it.

My new location will be in Fitts Village St James, or private villa or hotel treatments may also be booked.
Message privately for any further scheduling details.
