CAPE Coalition Substance Misuse Awareness, Prevention and Education Coalition on the Iron Range of MN
PCN Grant Funded

The Chemical Awareness, Prevention, and Education (CAPE) Coalition is a group of professionals and community members from around the quad cities’ region working to address the entire continuum of health around substance use, from prevention through recovery. We work together to raise awareness, correct misperceptions regarding use rates, increase education, and reduce stigma that may inhibit recovery. We see the good that exists in our communities, and work to grow it.

What an incredible initiative put on by our sheriffs office and Duluth’s treatment/ detox center! Looking out for our community members one step at a time❤️

The St. Louis County Jail Re-Entry Team partnered with CADT to purchase 100 backpacks that will be given out to individuals released from custody that have a likelihood of experiencing homelessness, will likely return to substance abuse, or other high need. The backpacks and contents were purchased with funds from a federal grant.

Each backpack contains: NARCAN, blanket, 31-day bus pass, water bottle, toiletry bag, socks, hat, soap, Kleenex, poncho, Chapstick, Propel packets, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, laundry detergent, first aid kit, and Area Resource Guide.

Our substance misuse educators were out in the community last week, tabling at Recovery Alliance Duluth's recovery events!

In addition to distributing medication lockboxes, they shared our "Our Recovery, Our Community" campaign, which highlights real stories from community members in recovery and reminds us that recovery doesn't look the same for everyone. Follow this link to learn more about the campaign: t.ly/3ycnM

Thanks to Recovery Alliance Duluth for creating spaces that celebrate recovery and connection!

Today, on 💜International Overdose Awareness Day💜, we remember every person lost to overdose and recognize the grief carried by families, friends, and communities. The day also calls us to action by expanding awareness and sharing lifesaving information that can help prevent overdose. 2 of the most important steps to preventing overdose deaths include knowing the signs & symptoms of an overdose & carrying naloxone. Wondering where to pick up free naloxone near you? Visit https://steverummlerhopenetwork.org/what-we-do/naloxone-access-points/
