Just a little movement for your posture. If you sit, work at a desk, or use your phone a lot, your forward rolling shoulders need to come back.

I am a little bit away from the wall here because I can pull back with extra extension. (Don’t force that if you don’t have it yet.)

I love the wall, but you can do this anywhere. In fact, try it now!!!!! And you might as well do some deep squatting while you’re at it! 🤪😘

Here’s your sign to give your body more of what it needs.

I will hold a deep resting squat for up to 2-3 min several times a day, and build up in frequency.

This compact, tucked-in position challenges your body to maintain mobility, balance, and coordination. (There are too many benefits to mention, Dr. Ken was teaching me all about it!)

The end goal is to have my butt to my heels with no space. I could hold this a lot longer when my heels were slightly elevated.

I love learning and receiving treatment from Dr. Ken and . It all makes sense to my nurse brain.

Perfectionism = It's not good enough unless I get it right

Excellence = I'm going to give this my best effort, learn, and keep going

Perfectionism ties your worth to your performance.

Excellence allows you to grow without making every mistake a personal failure.

I am so insanely hard on myself. I’m working on it!

If this resonates with you, I’d love to hear it.

If you’re not walking backwards, you need to. It’s your no-equipment necessary, almost-anywhere, beginner-friendly kind of movement.

When you “retro walk,” you’re using your muscles differently. Walking forward is more power, while backwards requires more control. Walking backwards helps build your balance, coordination, and control.

So if you’re always moving forward, doesn’t it make sense to train backwards? (Even lateral - side-to-side, but that’s a whole other video.)

As a nurse with ICU experience, I’m telling you to “do the opposite.” If you’re always hunched over a computer or phone, do the opposite and work on your posture. You “need” to be doing light twists, and deep breaths too. Really maximize movement and stretch to get your circulation and digestion going. Good for your nervous system too!!

And, staying strong is fall and injury prevention! Esp if you’re on a blood thinner!!!! (Sorry to my co-workers who are reading this and I’m thinking about hemmorhagic stroke and grippy socks.)

And, mobility is life. It’s independence and freedom!

So Nurse Gwen says - start walking backwards. You can add variety (as shown) or change up the intensity.

Ex - Stay low, push off with resistance or incline. Or, stay on a flat surface and use a wall if needed - one step at a time, with a focus on weight shifting.

Please try it! You’ll thank me later ❤️
