Established in 1954, the Forum School is a private, non-profit, school approved by the State of New Jersey to serve students with disabilities ages 5 through 21 years. We offer a therapeutic educational environment for children from New Jersey, as well as Rockland County, and New York City whose educational needs cannot be met in their local district. We use psycho-educational and behavioral techniques, along with a structured, stimulating curriculum appropriate to each student’s level. Classes are small and ungraded. The staff to student ratio of each class is based upon the age and ability levels of the students. The Forum School is in session from September to June and has a state approved Extended School Year (ESY) program in July. Sleepaway programs are also offered.

Mission: The Forum School is founded upon a respect for each child with the understanding that development occurs at the child’s individual pace. This humanistic philosophy is based on a belief in the dignity, worth, and capacity for self-realization of every individual. Most students are placed by their local school district and attend at no cost to parents.

Nothing is more meaningful to educators than a heartfelt note of appreciation from a family...our staff is awesome!

"We appreciate the support we received allowing him to do remote learning in December and also wholeheartedly agreed with the decision to do whole school remote learning for the first two weeks of this year. We have been so impressed with the planning and execution of this curriculum. The teachers, assistants, therapists and other staff have gone above and beyond to make this a worthwhile and productive experience. I know that this required a great deal of dedication and quite frankly, love, on the part of everyone at Forum School. From the parent's perspective, I give 5 stars for both effort and results.

That said, this experience also highlights the fact that no matter how well organized and orchestrated, the remote learning platform has its limitations. Some aspects of learning and socialization can only be done in person, and we recognize how blessed we have been to have been given that option through the sheer grit and determination shown by you and the rest of the Forum School family."

Remote Learning Reminders

We know remote learning is hard for our students, but remember: structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement are three keys to successful remote learning. Do you need help? Reach out to your child's teacher or our BCBA, Krissy, for assistance!

We finished the day learning to play chimes, working on social-emotional learning through board games, playing guard the pins, and doing collagraphy...seeing the specials through our students’ eyes! An amazing PD day!

nelly posted this and wanted me to post on it here so the staff can know about it! Today the judge approved my case of my legal name change so my legal name is now Nelly!!! I am so happy and relieved! But I have to wait for my fathers lawyer to get the paperwork and then give it to my father Here are the reasons why I changed my legal name to Nelly 1. I hate being called Nell because it rhymes with Hell 2. Nelly is a nicer sounding name 3. Nelly sounds more like a real name 4. Nelly is a prettier name I don’t mind if you spell my name with an “ie”. You can spell it that way if you want but as long as you call me Nelly. Also, even though Nelly rhymes with Smelly, I don’t mind because Smelly is not something really bad like Hell
I attended this school from 1990-1996 I remember the forum school it helped me a lot over the past 7 years
I just attended a amazing event for your school. It was a beautiful night , everyone had a great time. I will definitely look forward to next years event.
I love the updates to our building! The colors are so tranquil and uplifting. I especially enjoy the labels painted in big bold letters designating different rooms. Thanks to everyone involved in the tremendous effort to get so much done in such a short time!
