We went to Applebee's the other day and I wanted to take a moment to highlight something that may seem small to some people, but means a LOT to families like ours.
Applebee’s provides an accessible Braille menu, allowing our 11yr old son Camden to participate in the dining experience more independently ⠿📖
Camden is completely blind, so something as simple as being handed a menu isn’t something he can take for granted.
But here he is.. running his fingers across the Braille, exploring his options, and choosing what he wants.
And as his mom, watching that independence develop is everything 🥹❤️
This is why accessibility matters.
It’s not about giving someone something “extra.” It’s about giving people the same opportunity to participate.
Being able to read a menu. Being able to choose your own meal. Being able to experience a restaurant like everyone else.
Those things matter.
So today, Cottonstrong is giving a little shoutout to Applebee’s for making accessibility part of the dining experience 👨‍🦯🍽
We need more businesses to recognize that accessibility isn’t an inconvenience - it’s inclusion 💫
And when businesses make simple changes that allow people like Camden to be more independent, we notice. We appreciate it. And we celebrate it!
Thank you, Applebee’s, for helping my boy have a little more independence at the table. 🥰
