Thank you to everyone who joined us for our September Journal Club!

We’re proud to bring providers from across the region together to share knowledge and learn from one another. Last month’s conversation touched on topics from sports injuries and recovery to joint replacement and surgical outcomes, creating an opportunity for providers to share perspectives, discuss new research, and consider how emerging knowledge can shape patient care.

These conversations allow us to collaborate and ensure that patients throughout Berks County and beyond are receiving the best possible care.

Stay tuned for future club dates + community focused conversations coming soon.

Myth vs. Fact: Pain & Physical Therapy

Think you must be in pain to see a physical therapist? Think again.

Physical therapy isn't just about recovering from an injury. PT can also help identify and address weakness, limited mobility, balance issues, and movement patterns that may eventually lead to pain or injury.

Whether you're an athlete, an active individual, or simply want to keep moving well, taking care of your body before a problem becomes a bigger one can help you stay active and doing what you love.

Have a question about whether PT could benefit you? Chime in below or connect with our team: https://bit.ly/3JsISTo

Happy Physical Therapy Month!

This month, we're celebrating the people who help keep you moving and the power of mobility.

Sarah, a PTA at Freedom, has a helpful reminder: Don't wait until you're stiff or in pain to think about movement. Regular stretching and mobility work can help you maintain your range of motion and support the activities you enjoy.

What's one movement you never want to lose the ability to do? Tell us below!

A lifelong soccer, basketball, and track athlete, Chesney faced a six-month recovery after shoulder instability led to labrum reconstruction surgery. For her, the hardest part wasn’t just being unable to compete but losing the routine and confidence that came with being an athlete.

With Matt and the Freedom Therapies team by her side, Chesney rebuilt her shoulder strength, stability, and range of motion through a recovery plan tailored to the demands of soccer and track. Her breakthrough came when she completed a full overhead movement without the fear of her shoulder slipping out, a moment that helped her trust her body again.

Now, Chesney is working toward returning to the field and track with 100% confidence. As she puts it, physical therapy is the most important “practice” an athlete will ever attend.

Our Assistant Clinic Director, Casey, works with patients with a wide range of needs, from sports injuries and arthroscopic surgery to total joint replacements.

After seeing it all, Casey has one simple piece of advice for staying mobile and helping reduce your risk of injury: stretch!

Casey recommends spending 15 to 20 minutes stretching each morning to help warm up your body, maintain mobility, and get ready for the day. It’s simple, it doesn’t require any equipment, and it’s a habit many of us overlook.

If aches or pains are sticking around despite your stretching routine, visit https://bit.ly/462aMgF to learn whether physical therapy could be right for you.
