💜 — Owen’s Journey with Crohn’s Disease

My journey began in 2020–2021, before I even knew what was wrong with me.**

Before I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in the later months of 2021, I spent nearly a year dealing with symptoms that affected my everyday life. From stomach aches and frequent trips to the bathroom to unexplained weight loss, headaches, vision problems, back pain, fevers, fatigue, and many other symptoms, I knew something wasn’t right. Getting answers wasn’t easy, and it took a long road of uncertainty before I finally received my diagnosis.

Since that day, my journey has included plenty of infusions, colonoscopies, doctor’s appointments, and challenges that have tested me in ways I never expected. There have been difficult days, frustrating moments, and times when Crohn’s disease has made life harder than it should be.

But there has also been hope. 💜

After everything I’ve been through, I was fortunate enough to reach remission. Although I’ve experienced flare-ups here and there, they haven’t been anything like what I went through in the beginning. I know Crohn’s is a journey that can change from one day to the next, and I continue to take things one day at a time.

This page is where I share MY journey with Crohn’s disease — the good days, the hard days, the setbacks, the progress, and the little victories that mean so much. I want to be open and honest about what living with this disease looks like, raise awareness, and connect with others who may be walking a similar road.

If you’re living with Crohn’s or another chronic illness, I hope my story reminds you that you aren’t alone. We all have our own battles, and sometimes simply getting through the day is a victory worth celebrating.

I’m Owen, and this is my journey. I may have Crohn’s disease, but it does not define all of who I am.

One day at a time. One battle at a time. Always a . 💜

Hey everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve posted an update on here, and I hope everyone is doing well!

For those who may not know, I’ve been dealing with a rough stretch with my Crohn’s disease over the past several weeks. It kept me off work since early September, but thankfully, things have started to stabilize, and I’m finally getting back to work and trying to get back into my normal routine.

Living with Crohn’s isn’t always easy, and sometimes you have to take a step back and focus on yourself and your health. I’m taking things one day at a time and hoping for more good days ahead.

Thank you to everyone who has checked in and shown support along the way. It truly means a lot!

I hope you’re all doing well, and I’ll try to keep you updated on my journey!

Good News: Researchers have developed a simple blood test that could spot Crohn's disease up to two and a half years before symptoms appear.

This exciting breakthrough comes from the GEM Project, which tracked over 5,000 healthy relatives of Crohn's patients. They discovered high levels of antibodies to flagellin, a protein from everyday gut bacteria, in over a third of those who later got diagnosed. It's like your immune system waving a red flag early when it overreacts to helpful microbes, sparking inflammation and gut issues.

Children getting Crohn's has doubled since 1995, so this test could be a game changer for prediction, prevention, and maybe even vaccines for at risk families. Imagine fewer surprises, earlier action, and better days ahead for our community.
