The effects of sexual assault will not be the same for all survivors, it can be psychological, emotional, and physical. There is no wrong or right emotions, behavior, responses as the body and mind process the trauma. It is important to identify and normalize these reactions to better understand and help a survivor.

There is no right or wrong way to feel right now. We understand that during these uncertain times that you are under increased stress and experiencing change in daily lives, everyone will react differently.
It’s important to recognize those lost routines and connections. Once you have identified the losses you are feeling, look for ways to take care of yourself and your community.

The number of domestic violence situations has increased during the COVID-19 quarantine as victims are isolated with their abusers and are afraid to leave their home. The current crisis also makes it more difficult for victims to seek help, access medical care, and see therapist.
National Domestic Violence Hotline are developing new strategies to support victims under lockdown. The hotline offers services via online chat or texting, making it easier for victims to seek out help while at home.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, contact National Domestic Violence Hotline via text or call at 1-800-799-7233
