1. LOVE BOMBING / IDEALIZATION
Intense, Rushed Affection

Love bombing can feel like an extraordinary connection at first.

Someone may overwhelm you with attention, affection, compliments, gifts, constant communication, or promises about the future. They may mirror your interests, values, and dreams so closely that you feel uniquely understood, deeply connected, and “chosen.”

The concern isn’t simply that someone is affectionate. The warning sign is the pattern—especially when intense affection is used to create rapid attachment, dependency, or control.

When that intensity suddenly changes into criticism, emotional withdrawal, blame, manipulation, or withholding affection, the other person may become confused and work harder to regain the loving relationship they experienced in the beginning.

This pattern is often described as an idealization–devaluation cycle and can occur within emotionally abusive relationships.

❤️ Healthy love does not require you to lose yourself to keep someone else’s affection.

Healthy relationships allow:
• Time for trust to develop
• Respect for boundaries
• Emotional consistency
• Individuality and independence
• Honest communication
• Safety without fear or control
