CHRISTIANS’ COMMITMENT TO GOD VERSUS PARTY POLITICS

“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment” (Mark 12:30.)

I vividly remember decades ago of being concerned about other people’s expectations towards me to vote for presidential candidates during election year and of my obligations to the United States of America especially where saluting the flag was concerned. I was in a commitment quandary way back then. But no more.

(I remember having to pledge allegiance to the flag during my early school years in the late 1950s to early 1960s. Thinking back I do not mind having given my allegiance to the United States of America because homos*xuality and transgenderism were forbidden “social ills” not tolerated by neither the government nor society in general. Pressure from that society at large kept it “closeted.”

Back in those days television programs did not even show actors playing married couples sleeping in the same bed; Hollywood pictured separate beds. There were no shows containing the use of profanity or depicting or suggesting homos*xuality or lesbianism.

Unlike today, our government was heavily pro-family and had pro-Christian values. No professed homos*xual or bis*xual could run for office with any expectation of winning. This offensive class was ostracized.

All that has changed. Our government now promotes homos*xuality and transgenderism and goes so far as to include such filth in public school academic schedules for children. The school system also promotes drag queen reading hours in libraries for youngsters all under the welcoming oversight of the government.

Because of this ungodly radical shift, I find that I cannot now pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States. It has rejected God’s holy values.)

My commitment to God was not then settled and I was not unmovably planted in the Word of God and in my obligation to Him as I now am. I was also deficient in Holy Ghost boldness. I had not then the attitude of the apostles when they exclaimed:

“…We ought to obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29.)

God is an especially hard taskmaster compared to the Egyptian taskmasters during the centuries of the children of Israel’s captivity. He requires complete and unquestioning obedience to His holy mandates. He says:

“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation (Christian walk, lifestyle); 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:15-16.)

James 2:10 plainly declares God’s expectations of His people. It reads:

“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”

This passage leaves no “wiggle room” for anyone. It is all or nothing.

Through ignorance, Black people have been deceived and taught to vote for the Democratic presidential candidate during election year.

(The public school system taught over the years that the Republican party advocated slavery which is a complete and bold-faced lie. The Democratic party was guilty of this.)

This is despite the qualifications of the candidate or lack thereof or of his moral compass. We have been indoctrinated into voting for the party rather than examining the candidate.

But are we as Christians obligated to vote during presidential election year regardless of the Democratic or Republican party’s platform or whether the candidate is a believer or not or whether he or she upholds God’s moral law? Or, as I once thought, should a Christian choose and vote for the “lesser” of the two unrighteous candidates?

How tightly should Christians hold a political candidate to God’s moral standard? Should he be expected to take a stand for all of God’s moral law or may we expect and accept adherence to a certain percentage? James 2:10 certainly eliminates that possibility.

What about this. Should Christians take an uncompromising stance and vote into office only a candidate who himself is a Christian? Should he or she be saved having believed and obeyed Acts 2:38?
Does God allow us to vote for morally good non-Christians? Or should we refuse to play any role in the presidential election if there is no Christian in any party? How far should we take our allegiance to take part in an election especially since Blacks have fought and died for the right to vote?

I have long since arrived at the conclusion that the answer to these questions is clear from a biblical perspective. 2 Corinthians 6:14-17 read:

“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.”

A Christian can be unequally yoked to a political party or to a candidate as well as to a non-Christian spouse. If the candidate is unsaved, the Bible forbids a believer from being “yoked” (united) to him/her. Light (believer) has no communion with darkness (non-believer.) We are admonished to separate ourselves (come out from among them) from the workers of iniquity.

Election year 2024 like election year 2020 is very contentious. Both candidates are unsaved and leave much to be desired as being worthy to be voted into office. It is a given that no candidate will be placed into office if he or she does not compromise or make certain concessions to special interest groups such as the LGBTQ community or the supposed women’s right to body autonomy lobby (right to abort a child.)

Any presidential candidate should be held by Christians to the standards set forth in Proverbs 6:16-19:

“These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.”

A LYING TONGUE

I take what any presidential candidate promises in his campaign with a grain of salt. He or she will say anything if it helps propel him into this nation’s highest office. In his 2008 election campaign for the presidency of the United States, Barak Obama deceived the American public when he stated that he opposed same s*x “marriage” for religious reasons.

Today the Democratic candidate for the presidency, Kamala Harris, has flip-flopped on several positions in a determined effort to become elected. She no longer supports a buy-back program for AR15s and similar guns; she has also “walked back” her previous position on fracking.

These revised positions on policy are not due to an honest change of mind but due to today’s political climate considering her run for the presidency. What the news media calls harmless walk backs is nothing less than out-and-out lying. But she is not unique in this race in lying to the public nor with respect to what historical candidates from both parties have always done.

Revelation 21:8 reads:

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, AND ALL LIARS, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Psalm 101:7 says:

“He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.”

HANDS THAT SHED INNOCENT BLOOD

It is guaranteed that any candidate for this nation’s highest office who does not in some manner compromise on the issue of abortion will not be elected.

(Abortion is a euphemism for murder. It is an egregious assault on those who are not able to defend themselves. The sixth commandment says:

“Thou shalt not kill (murder)” (Exodus 20:13.))

EVERY presidential candidate makes a compromise in some manner in murdering children in the womb. Everyone will settle for some period beyond which a life should not be brutally and inhumanely forfeited. To take the Bible’s uncompromising stance is political su***de because the pro-choice lobby is that strong.

God does not judge unborn life on a sliding time scale. Life begins with conception. And the Creator does not look forgivingly on anyone who uses the word “fetus” for the unborn. This is just a tactic to deceive the mother and make murder seem humane and acceptable by dehumanizing the unborn child. Jeremiah 1:5 says:

“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”

Like every past Democratic and Republican candidate, today’s Harris and Trump compromise on the pro-choice issue rather than take the only stance that pleases God – complete opposition to the murder of the unborn.

Kamala Harris has consistently rejected any effort to restrict access to abortion and champions reproductive health for the woman. Donald J. Trump has vacillated over the years on abortion policy despite referring to himself as the most pro-life president in history. His vice-presidential choice, J.D. Vance, has stated that he would veto a national abortion ban.

Trump has a history of violating God’s laws of marriage to one woman for life. He is now in his third marriage. This is unacceptable to me and should be also to all born-again, Christ-loving believers.

There is one class of people who have been consistently overlooked by presidential candidates over the years. This class is the poor. There is always mention of the rich and never-ending talk of the middle class. But what about the poor?

Jesus was concerned about the poor. Luke 6:20 reads:

“And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.”

Matthew 26:11 says:

“For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.”

Since this ignored class of citizens will remain in society, should politicians not be concerned about their welfare? Why do we not hear Trump and Harris express concern for the poor? The answer is that they do not care. All these politicians care about is being voted into the most powerful office on the planet and enriching themselves. President Biden has been proven, along with his drug-addicted, s*x depraved son, Hunter, of enriching themselves in pay-to-play schemes with countries such as China and Romania.

And let us not forgot the money-hungry Clintons during the midst of the devastating Haitian earthquake of 2010. Haitians have accused them or robbing them of billions of dollars of money donated for he cleanup and rebuilding. This earthquake affected 1.5 million people and left them destitute. At this point the Clintons agreed to provide much needed aid. Not surprisingly, this financial aid never reached the people, and they have not forgotten that.

There is a saying that “power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Money buys a lot of power and influences a lot of people. The unsaved due to their sin natures are prime targets to become corrupted by the overwhelming temptations of the office of the president of the United States.

Go on down the line of previous presidents and you will uncover corruption. And believe me when I tell you, today’s Trump and Harris are not immune! Look at Jeremiah 17:9:

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

I believe that nothing less than a sold-out Christian should be considered for the office of the president of the United States. This means believing the complete truth of the Bible including Deuteronomy 6:4, Acts 2:38, marriage between a man and a woman for life, and the absolute condemnation of the so-called “alternate lifestyle” of the LGBTQ community. Not one jot or tittle of the commandments of God should escape any presidential candidate’s obedience.

I first neglected to take part in America’s democratic system of voting in favor of blatant degeneracy in election year 2020. I will continue it this year since America is dead set on placing society’s debauched agenda ahead of the holiness of God.

THE WRAP UP

Any Christian who votes for any corrupt politician, i.e. even one who violates just one moral law of God, are guilty of condoning lawlessness. Look at Jeremiah 23:14:

“I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they STRENTHEN ALSO THE HANDS OF EVILDOERS, that none doth return from his wickedness; they are all of them unto me as S***m, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.”

The ungodly presidential candidate’s guilt will be the unwary voter’s guilt if he becomes elected. Christians who vote for unsaved candidates gives his approval. No believer is obligated to take part in the so-called democratic process if that process or the individual is corrupt.

THE SON IS NOT GOD

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh…” (1 Timothy 3:16a.)

There is no mystery or confusion among people in general from any ethnic group or citizen from any country of what a “son” is or how it is defined and understood. It is a male child born of two parents – a man and a woman. The etymology of this word is as follows:

“"male child in relation to either or both parents," Old English sunu "son, male child," also broadly "male descendant…from Proto-Germanic *sunus (source also of Old Saxon and Old Frisian sunu, Old Norse sonr, Danish søn, Swedish son, Middle Dutch sone, Dutch zoon, Old High German sunu, German Sohn, Gothic sunus "son."”

This definition is straightforward and is not a source of controversy among the public of any nation. Inherent in the foundation of this word’s definition is the fact that a “son” arrives in the world through the birth process with the “birth” linking it with a known beginning of existence in time.

Let us now examine the Bible to discover if the Son of God’s beginning is the same as was that of Adam’s male descendants throughout history. In other words, to confirm or deny whether His birth differs in any manner from that of any other man.

Here is what was prophesied in the book of Isaiah concerning the birth of the Son of God:

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14.)

Admittedly, the Son’s birth is unique in that He was born of a virgin. But the fact remains He “was born,” i.e. had a beginning and born a male. Like every sinner born since Adam and Eve, the Son:

(1) Was born.
(2) Had a human mother.

The fact that He had no human father with an adamic nature is neither here nor there with respect to the etymological significance of “son.” Neither does the truth that the Son was sired by God the Father/the Holy Ghost alter the fact the meaning of “son” applies to Him as it does to all of Adam’s male descendants:

(1) “And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God” (Luke 1:35.)
(2) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16.)

Isaiah 9:6 reads:

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

The truth that the Son born of the virgin would be known as “the mighty God” and “everlasting Father” does not invalidate the fact that He “was born” in the world an otherwise normal child and that He DID NOT physically exist prior to His supernatural birth.

“But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting” (Micah 5:2.)

It is important to realize that all three Old Testament scriptures forecast FUTURE events; the Son did not exist until His future birth. There was no of God during the thousands of years of the Old Testament era.

Now we will contrast the Son with the existence of the Spirit of God. Isaiah 57:15 reads:

“For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”

God inhabits or dwells in eternity. As such, He was not born, made, or otherwise brought into existence. He is. God was “in the beginning”:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made” (John 1:1-3.)

The context of these passages demands the meaning that God preexisted “all things” (includes everything that exists with the single exception of Himself.) “In the beginning” contrasts with the prepositional phrase “in the beginning” of Genesis 1:1 that marks the origin of everything:

(1) “In the beginning” of Genesis 1:1 (time.)
(2) “In the beginning” of John 1:1 (eternity.)

As is true with the English word “person,” etymology demands that the significance of “son” as used by the Holy Ghost remain fixed.

Again, in comparison to the word “person,” theologians have altered and or embellished the word “son” in application to the Son of God to justify a belief not founded in the Word of God, i.e. the doctrine of the Trinity. These untrustworthy scholars have made up in their minds that the Son of God is eternal because they have redefined God to exist in three coexistent, coeternal, and consubstantial “persons” each of whom is God.

Hence, the lie of the doctrine of the Trinity teaches one God existing as God the Father, “God the Son,” and “God the Holy Ghost.”

The phrase “God the Son” is an oxymoron, i.e. “a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction.” Carefully study the apparent contradictions between God and Son:

(1) God- eternal. “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God” (Psalm 90:2.)
(2) Son- mortal. “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law” (Galatians 4:4.)

The Word of God NEVER uses the phrases “God the Son” or “eternal Son.” NEVER! Trinitarian scholars manipulate language to bring about grammatical “sleight of hand” to give the appearance of three distinct “Gods” including the fictitious “God the Son” also known as “eternal Son.”

But the Word of God speaks clearly. Deuteronomy 6:4 reads:

“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD.”

Another non-scriptural phrase concocted by the wizards of theology supporting the Son as God is “three in one.” You will search the Bible in vain for it. Although 1 John 5:7 uses the phrase “these three are one,” the two ARE NOT synonymous.

Believe it or not but the Bible does define Son in terms of God. Two parallel definitions are found in John 1:14 and 1 Timothy 3:16. They read respectively:

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (John 1:14.)

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory” (1 Timothy 3:16.)

The Son is:

(1) The Word made flesh.
(2) God “manifest” IN the flesh.

When the Word was made flesh the virgin Mary conceived a Son having been overshadowed by the Holy Ghost (Luke 1:35.) When God was manifest IN the flesh the virgin Mary conceived a Son having been overshadowed by the Holy Ghost.

While both John 1:14 and 1 Timothy 3:16 declare the origin of the Son, the method of conception and subsequent birth differs depending on whether it is based on God OR the Word. NEVER confuse the two. In other words, God WAS NOT made flesh neither was the Word manifest in the flesh!

Trinitarian scholars and theologians treat the Bible as a “run of the mill” (ordinary) piece of literature or book. It cannot and should not be treated as such where it is subject to the rules and opinions of the human mind or intellect. 1 Corinthians 2:14 says:

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

THE WRAP UP

The Son IS NOT God. He is though God manifest in the flesh. Fix these two conflicting statements in your mind always noting the difference:

(1) The Son IS NOT God (NOT Bible.)
(2) The Son IS God manifest IN THE FLESH (Bible.)

THE CONSCIENCE – MAN’S GOD GIVEN MORAL COMPASS

“For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: 15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another” (Romans 2:14-15.)

If God’s written Word – the Bible – did not exist, no person with an eye to see could be convinced that mankind was given morality. The reason is that no one with critical thinking skills minus a hidden agenda would believe humanity was created with a moral compass because of thousands of years of wars, depravity, and unlimited sin shows the opposite.

When God made the first couple – Adam and Eve – sin had not yet made an entrance on earth. Man was given a holy nature with the caveat that he could make a choice to either obey or disobey his Creator (free will.) Sin was limited to the devil and his angels in heaven (Isaiah 14:12-14; Ezekiel 28:12-15.)

The Bible is the only historical document in existence that not merely contains or records truth but is truth itself. The reason I can make this blanket declaration is because the author is God who is infinitely good (Matthew 19:21,) holy (1 Peter 1:16,) a God of truth (Isaiah 65:16,) and righteous (2 Corinthians 5:21.)

While it is difficult to believe that man was originally made in a state of holiness (a moral compass) compared to what we now see and have seen in America in this 21st century and in the past seventy years or so, the Word of God settles the issue. After God’s six days of creative activity, He declared the following:

“And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day” (Genesis 1:31.)

God’s definition of “very good” which includes everything made including man is to exist without flaw bearing the seal of his Creator. Humanity continued in this state of morality until Adam willfully disobeyed a direct command of God to not eat any fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:15-17.)

Romans 5:12 reads:

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”

Because sin “entered into the world” and consequently death “passed upon all men,” we know he was wholly without sin in the beginning.

The basis of man’s holiness is the statement recorded in John 1:9:

“That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”

The context of John 1:9 is the previous eight verses. This context signifies “Light” as synonymous with the impeccable nature of God. Take a moment to reflect on this passage. The Light (truth) of God “lighteth” (gives knowledge or awareness to) EVERY man “that cometh into the world.”

Romans 1:18-19 fully explain John 1:9:

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.”

“The truth” in verse 18 is synonymous with “the Light” of John 1:9; ungodly men hold this truth “in unrighteousness” (knowingly and consciously distort or falsify it.)

Contrary to the satanic theory of evolution that postulates humanity evolved into a higher form of life from brutish, apelike creatures, the Bible declares that man was made man in the beginning and after the fall DEVOLVED mentally, physically, AND MORALLY. He has ALWAYS been a man without any evidence of any transition from an ape.

When Adam fell, another nature, that of sin and rebellion, became implanted in his heart right alongside his holy nature. Jeremiah 17:9 says:

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

This sin nature overpowered and dominated his holy nature. Not only has man’s heart been rendered deceitful, but desperately (thoroughly) wicked.

The Old Testament teaches that God gave Moses the Moral Law, more popularly known as the Ten Commandments, to His chosen people, the children of Israel (Exodus 20:2-17.) This is a vital part of the Light of John 1:9 because it is God’s moral compass for man. The existence of the moral law embodied in the heart of humanity is inarguable as we shall discover.

Every race and ethnic group since the creation of man shows evidence of the moral law in the heart of man – evident even after he fell. Note this summarization:

(1) It is WRONG to steal, and man KNOWS it.
(2) It is WRONG to kill (murder,) and man KNOWS it.
(3) It is WRONG to covet (unrestrained desire or lust for something,) and man KNOWS it.
(4) It is WRONG to take another man’s wife, and man KNOWS it.
(5) It is WRONG to bear false witness, and man KNOWS it.
(6) It is WRONG to dishonor one’s parents, and man KNOWS it.
(7) It is WRONG to engage in homos*xuality or lesbianism, and man KNOWS it.

There is not now and never was any civilization on earth that did not have God’s moral law as part of its system of justice. All societies even pagan societies who never heard the gospel had laws regarding theft, murder, adultery, etc. This is because God’s Light “lighteth every man” born (John 1:9.)

Why did I include homos*xuality when it is not a part of the Ten Commandments God gave to Moses? I included it because the command against homos*xuality in the Old and New Testaments IS part of the Moral Law although it is outside the scope of the Ten Commandments codified and given to Moses on Mount Sinai. Here is what God says regarding homos*xuality and transgenderism:

“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination” (Leviticus 18:22.)

“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them” (Leviticus 20:13.)

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 read:

“Now ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind (passive partner and leader in the homos*xual act,) 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”

Marriage between a man and a woman is an irrevocable moral declaration. Genesis 1:26-27 say:

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”

When questioned by the hypocritical Pharisees, Jesus quoted Genesis 1:27:

“But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female” (Mark 10:6.)

We are all familiar with the conscience. Webster defines this word as:

“Conscience is the sense or consciousness of the moral goodness or blameworthiness of one's own conduct, intentions, or character together with a feeling of obligation to do right or be good.”

This is a secular definition. Romans 2:14-15 gives us the biblical foundation of the eternal, God-ordained meaning:

“For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: 15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another.”

The conscience is where God has implanted His Moral Law, i.e. the Ten Commandments. It IS the Moral Law. Keep in mind that the Ten Commandments were given to the Israelites ALONE. They WERE NOT provided to the Gentiles (non-Jews.)

But despite this, Gentiles DO BY NATURE THE THINGS CONTAINED IN THE LAW! How can this possibly be?

The answer is recorded in Romans 2:15. The Ten commandments have been written in the hearts of the Gentiles along with the Jews.

Because the conscience of man bears witness, his thoughts either accuse (condemns) or excuse his actions. When anyone violates one of the moral laws, the conscience becomes a heavy weight unrelentingly bearing down on and condemning the offender. This feeling of guilt will continue until the offender admits his guilt and justice is rendered.

Admittedly, the conscience does not have the power to compel moral or godly behavior. It will not prevent anyone from stealing, committing adultery, or murdering. And when it is violated, its punishment is limited to a tortured conscience if it has not been seared, i.e. rendered inoperable due to constantly ignoring it.

An old television program made a great impression on me when I first saw it. It was an episode of “One Step Beyond” that ran from 1959 through 1961. This series dealt with paranormal themes. The particular episode I will never forget was named “Justice.” It involved a constable (policeman) and a banker.

One day the banker stopped the police officer while making his rounds and showed him the body of a woman he confessed to killing. Of course, the constable reported the incidence. However, the banker was in church with his wife and several other witnesses when he took the officer to the body.

This program had a twist. The banker denied ever showing the constable the body and confessing to her murder. It turned out that the banker had indeed killed the woman. His conscience had so condemned and tortured him that it caused a psychic phenomenon known as teleportation to create duplicate of the banker that confessed to the constable while his physical self was in church.

The banker only found peace when his psychic “other self” confessed the murder to the constable’s chief. At the end of this program, the pastor of the church the banker was a member of ended his sermon by quoting the following lines from the book of Ecclesiastes:

“For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil” (Ecclesiastes 12:14.)

As I stated above, the conscience is unable to prevent a person from violating the Ten Commandments but is more than enough to make anyone feel extremely guilty if his conscience has not been seared.

Numbers 32:23 reads:

“But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the Lord: and be sure your sin will find you out.”
