I was on the #Peloton yesterday and the instructor was talking about how effing hard this year has been.

Yup.

It’s been the HARDEST most terrible year for me too. Grief and loss brought the pandemic to a whole new level of hard. I’m sad. I’m stressed. And I’m feeling all the things. Every damn day.

But you know what? 2021 is about self compassion. It’s about self care. It’s about giving ourselves grace for doing the best damn job we can, as moms, as business owners, as people. And it’s also about no longer living in the self pity.

🚫 Hormone imbalance = weight gain.

You can (and should!!!) balance your hormones with the foods you eat, the type of exercise you do and how much and how well you sleep.

Are you ready to make a change and invest in your health but afraid your spouse will say no?

❓Where is the FEAR coming from?

... because you already spent so much money on other things that didn’t work?

... because you have bills to pay and that’s (allegedly) more important than your health... your life?

... because he doesn’t understand how badly this is affecting your life?

😲 Investing in yourself is freaking scary 😲

You might have many different FEARS bouncing around your head and paralyzing any movement forward.

➕ Add the FEAR that hubbie will agree with your fears and you'll likely stay stuck exactly where you’re at right now.

So, how do you get your spouse on board?

1️⃣ Are you having the necessary conversation with your spouse about your health and happiness?

2️⃣ Does your spouse understand WHY it’s important for you to make a change?

3️⃣ Does your spouse know how much pain you’re in?

4️⃣ Are you embarrassed or ashamed to speak with your spouse about your weight?

💯 I know it’s super hard to have these conversations and be vulnerable, especially with your loved ones.

🙏 But TRUST ME - when you have the conversation and your partner can understand where you’re at and how you feel, BOOM 💥 he’s on your page now

Now you have SUPPORT - emotionally and financially - that will improve your chance of success.

So go and talk to your spouse.

🗣 Tell him you need the professional expertise, tools and accountability to change the trajectory of your health. Tell him that you want to invest in a mentor, an expert in that field, to help you avoid making needless mistakes. Stay strong in your convictions because you know this is the right decision.

Today is National Ditch Your Resolutions Day.

So you may be asking, why would I ditch my resolutions? Aren't they what's supposed to help me drive change.

Well, sort of, but how many of you have given up on your resolutions before Feb 1st? How many of you have created lofty goals as a resolution only to never achieve them?

So I say eff resolutions.

I heard a quote recently, “If you don’t like it, change it.”

The opportunity to make a change to your life does not only happen on January 1st.

If you don’t like something about your life today, CHANGE IT.

Take action. (as in, today!)

If something isn’t working for you, you have permission to change it.

Even if it's scary, and you are not 100% ready (because change IS scary and we are never fully ready), you can take baby steps of imperfect action toward making that change and reaching that goal.

So, bottom line... If it’s not working for you, change it. Period.

Most of the women I know have so many demands on them, as well as a deep inner mama bear 🐻 need to take care of everyone else before themselves.

We’ve all heard it before. You can’t pour from an empty cup.

It’s why I value SELF CARE so highly.

Hear me out for a second.

It’s why I named my business LoYo Wellness, and my program The LoYo Method.

LoYo means 💟 LOve YOurself 💟 in mind, body, and soul.

It’s the epitome of self care.

Intellectually we know this.

And yet, this is also one of the most common places of resistance from the women I see.

They want to lose weight and gain back their energy so that they can show up for their families. Play with them. Love on them. Set an example for them.

BUT.... when it comes down to doing the do, they don’t want to take time away from their family to workout or meal prep, or spend money on themselves to actually finally fix the root cause of what is stopping them from showing up as the person they want to be.

It’s these women who refuse to make themselves a priority (or at least a top 10 priority), that will never see a change.

And it’s so crazy because that’s the very thing that will benefit not only them, but everyone else around them the most.

So I will just say this ...

CHOOSING TO NOT MAKE ROOM IN YOUR LIFE TO DO THE THINGS THAT WILL BRING THE FUTURE YOU HEALTH, ENERGY, BALANCE AND JOY, IS CHOOSING TO BE A VICTIM.

💯✅You have the power and the responsibility to make the changes in your life you need so that you can have the life, relationships and impact that you want.

The biggest impact you can have in this world and on those you love is to start with yourself. It’s time to take back control 👊

Did you know it takes less energy to smile than frown?

Smiling is contagious.

So why not give others the gift of a smile and create a ripple effect of happiness and positive thinking.

Smiling will completely change, for the better, your interactions with family, friends and co-workers, because smiling is the first step toward shifting your mindset toward positive thinking.

Positive thinking is maximized when practiced intentionally and consistently. So next time you catch yourself frowning or thinking something negative, acknowledge with gratitude that you’re having negative thoughts, thank yourself and retrain your brain to be more positive next time.

I heard this quite recently ➡️ “A bad day for the ego is a good day for the soul."

🔆 Imagine what a bad YEAR does for the soul!

As this year comes to a close, it has me reflecting...

For me, there have been ups and downs - enormous business growth even during a pandemic, a new baby to our family, and a tragic loss when my father suddenly passed away.

Last December we were full of hope and excitement of all that 2020 would bring.

❓What were your hopes and dreams going into 2020?
❓Are you where you thought you would be at this point?

❓How has this year's challenges made you more resilient?
❓How can you make this new year special or different for yourself?

That’s the beautiful thing about one year ending and a new one beginning. It doesn’t matter where you are now… or how far you’ve come in the last year.. or how much farther behind you feel than a year ago.

Because 💠 EVERY DAY 💠 we have the ability to make a different choice.

There is no way to know what 2021 will bring.

But here’s the thing.

It doesn’t matter.

It literally doesn’t matter if 2021 is the calm after the storm. Or the calm before the next storm.

💯 Your circumstances do not dictate your results. YOU get to do that.

YOU get to decide that this year will be different. Because you will make different choices. Not because you are waiting for something outside of your control to give you what you desire.

One of the things I teach my clients in the LoYo Method is to show up for themselves. It is truly one of the most valuable things that you can learn for long-term results even when it’s easier not to.

Trusting yourself that you will make the choices that get you closer to your goal, time, and time again.

That gives you freedom 🙌🏼

NOW is the time to decide.

✅ Decide to stop letting your circumstances dictate your results, your happiness, and your health.

✅ Decide to take action.

✅ Decide what you want your life to look like.

✅ Decide to make 2021 the year that everything changes for the better.

😴 LACK OF ENERGY is one of the biggest challenges I hear from my clients before we start working together.

Let’s talk this through.

Without energy, you’ve got nothing in you at the end of the day to do the things that will heal you and improve your energy levels.

AAAANND... on top of that, you’re probably focusing on the wrong things…things that end up draining your energy leaving you feeling like an empty keg at frat party. 😫

Plus fatigue produces hunger hormones that cause us to eat more and likely grab for h healthier choices.

Not to mention it’s way more difficult to deal with stress when we can barely keep our eyes open and have immense brain fog.
