🍂 🤎 Cozy, chocolatey, and nourishing! This plant-based peanut butter oatmeal bowl is more than comfort food. It’s packed with benefits! 🌱

🥣 Fiber helps slow digestion and supports gut health.
💪 Plant protein from h**p and soy milk helps support muscle health and fullness.
🍫 Antioxidants in cocoa help protect cells from oxidative stress.
🌾 Resistant starch can nourish beneficial gut bacteria and support metabolic health.

And for blood sugar? Pairing fiber-rich oats with protein helps slow digestion and may support a steadier blood sugar response compared with eating refined carbohydrates alone. ✨

A warm, satisfying way to nourish your body and mind on a crisp fall morning! 🍁

🌱 Food is more than fuel. It’s an opportunity to nourish your body and mind.

Did you know that the colors on your plate can tell you something about the nutrients you’re eating?

🫐 Blackberries & blueberries: Rich in anthocyanins and other polyphenols, which are studied for their roles in protecting cells and supporting health.

🍅 Cherry tomatoes: Provide lycopene, a carotenoid with antioxidant activity, along with vitamin C.

🍈 Cantaloupe: Provides beta-carotene, which your body can convert to vitamin A, as well as vitamin C.

🍍 Pineapple: Contains vitamin C and bromelain, a group of enzymes that break down proteins.

🧡 Butternut squash: Rich in beta-carotene and a good source of fiber.

Each plant offers its own unique combination of beneficial compounds. That’s one reason eating a variety of colorful plant foods is such a valuable part of a healthy eating pattern. 💚

✨ Let’s talk about it: What fruit or vegetable do you wish you ate more often?

Maybe it’s something you love but forget to buy, or something you’d like to learn how to prepare. Share yours in the comments! 👇

Plant-based dinners don’t have to be complicated! 🌱💚

Last night, I had a client to see via telehealth, so I wanted a quick, easy dinner that would still allow me to enjoy a meal with my family beforehand.

The result? A bunch of simple, plant-based foods that came together to make a delicious, customizable meal. Everyone could build their own plate based on what sounded good to them. No elaborate recipe, no hours in the kitchen. Just simple ingredients!

What you don’t see in the reel: sliced artichokes, roasted red peppers, and homemade agave-mustard dressing.

And for anyone wondering about macros or getting enough protein on a plant-based diet, take a look at how these foods complement one another! 🌿

💚 Tofu and edamame provide protein, with edamame also offering fiber.

💚 Hummus brings together protein and fiber from chickpeas with healthy fats from tahini.

💚 Homemade ranch, made with organic, unsweetened cashew yogurt and spices, adds flavor with simple ingredients.

💚 Greens and vegetables provide carbohydrates, water, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and other beneficial plant compounds.

The takeaway? You don’t need one perfect recipe or a single food that does it all. A variety of plant foods can help you build a satisfying, balanced meal that fits your needs and preferences.

Healthy eating can be simple, delicious, and realistic—even on a busy evening. 🌱

There’s something special about seeing your business come to life in ways you can actually hold in your hands. 🤍

Every little detail is a reminder of the work, passion, and purpose behind what I’m building.

Here’s to growing, creating, and bringing the vision to life — one step at a time! ✨

White rice gets a bad reputation—but how you prepare it can actually change the way your body handles it. 🍚

When cooked rice is cooled, some of its starch undergoes a process called retrogradation, creating more resistant starch.

Resistant starch isn’t fully broken down in the small intestine. Instead, some reaches the colon, where it can be fermented by your gut microbes and contribute to the production of beneficial short-chain fatty acids.

And that’s one reason I love chilled veggie sushi as more than just a convenient meal. 🍣🌱

You’re getting:
🥕 Colorful vegetables + plant nutrients
🍚 Carbohydrates for energy
🦠 Resistant starch for your gut microbes
🥑 Healthy fats, depending on your fillings

Food doesn’t have to be complicated to support your health. Sometimes it’s about understanding what happens to food before it reaches your plate.

One of my favorite parts of working with clients through monthly functional nutrition support is being able to help them in the moments when questions actually come up.

Maybe you’re standing in the grocery store wondering about an ingredient.
Maybe you’re trying a new food and noticing something different.
Maybe you’re looking at a label and wondering, “Is this a good choice for me?”

You don’t always need another appointment—you sometimes just need to be able to ask the person who already knows your goals, your history, and the bigger picture.

That’s what I mean by high-touch support.

Nutrition happens in real life. And your support should be able to meet you there. 🤍

Food isn’t just about filling little bellies. It’s fuel for growing bodies, busy brains, energy, play, and all the exploring that comes with childhood. 🌱

Today’s park lunch was simple:

🍊 Orange slices for vitamin C and hydration
🍅 Tomatoes for antioxidants and nutrients
🌱 Crunchy toasted edamame for plant-based protein, fiber, and minerals
🥪 Gluten-free multigrain toast with organic natural peanut butter for a satisfying combination of carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats

No complicated recipes. No “perfect” lunch. Just real, nourishing foods packed up and taken along for a day of playing.

I love reminding families that what we feed our children is one of the ways we support their brains and bodies as they grow.

Healthy food should fuel childhood—not make it more complicated. 💚

🚨 Parents, this is your reminder to read the ingredient list—even when you’ve bought the product before.

Imagine this:

You find a gluten-free spinach wrap that seems like a great option. You’ve purchased it before. You already checked the ingredients, and it looked like a reasonable choice.

So months later, you grab the same product without thinking twice.

The packaging looks the same.

But the ingredients have changed.

Maybe an artificial color was added. Maybe a preservative was changed. Maybe an ingredient you intentionally avoid is now included.

And you might never notice unless you read the label again.

This is why I encourage parents to check the ingredient list every single time, even for products your family buys regularly.

And here’s another important reminder:

🌱 Just because something sounds healthy doesn’t necessarily mean it is.

“Spinach wrap.”
“Gluten-free.”
“Multigrain.”
“Made with vegetables.”
“Natural.”

These words can create a health halo around a product—but the front of the package doesn’t tell the whole story.

Turn it around. 👀
Read the ingredients.

This becomes especially important when we’re talking about children.

Research has found that some children may be sensitive to synthetic food colors, with controlled trials and systematic reviews finding associations between exposure and changes in attention, activity, behavior, irritability, and other neurobehavioral outcomes.

This does not mean every child will react to food dyes, and it does not mean food dyes cause ADHD. But it is enough evidence for me to believe that these are ingredients worth being aware of—particularly when they’re unnecessary.

So the next time you reach for a familiar “healthy” product, don’t assume the ingredient list is the same as the last time you bought it.

The package may look familiar.
The product may sound healthy.
But the ingredients are what matter.

Read the label. Every time.

Please, please do your research before getting on any medication!

Sometimes the easy way turns out to be the hard way. 😔

BLIND SPOT: Hundreds of patients are suing the makers of Ozempic, Wegovy and other GLP-1 drugs, alleging the medications caused a rare "eye stroke" linked to permanent vision loss.

The condition, called NAION, cuts blood flow to the optic nerve with no warning and no treatment. A 2024 Harvard study found semaglutide users with type 2 diabetes had roughly four times the relative risk of developing it.

Novo Nordisk called the lawsuits meritless, while the FDA says it is still reviewing the evidence and has not issued a safety warning.

Sometimes wellness looks a lot simpler than we make it.

Yesterday and today, we spent time hiking through the woods, exploring with the kids, slowing down, and simply being present in nature. 🌿

This practice is often called forest bathing, or shinrin-yoku—intentionally spending time in a natural environment and engaging with your surroundings through your senses.

And there’s a reason this can feel so restorative. Research suggests that spending time in forest environments may support:

🌲 Reduced stress and anxiety
🌲 Improved mood and emotional well-being
🌲 Relaxation and restoration
🌲 Healthier cardiovascular responses, including heart rate and blood pressure

For me, this is one piece of a whole-person approach to wellness.

We nourish ourselves with food.
We move our bodies.
We prioritize sleep and rest.
And we make space to connect with the natural world.

No complicated routine. No perfect schedule.

Sometimes it’s just a trail, the sound of the trees, fresh air, and time together.

Nature is nourishment, too. 🤍
