Have you recently been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes?
💊Metformin is the first treatment offered to early diabetes patients across the globe. However, studies show that close to half of Indian patients do not respond adequately to metformin. Their glucose levels remain uncontrolled for longer and are therefore at higher risk of other long-term complications.
The Division of Nutrition, St John’s Research Institute, Bengaluru is currently looking for newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetes participants between the ages of 30-60 years who have not yet started on any diabetes treatment and living in Bengaluru, Karnataka to take part in a study investigating ways of predicting who will benefit from metformin treatment.
The project will involve:
🔹2 visits (beginning and end of study) to St. John’s Medical College & Hospital, Bengaluru
🔹12 weeks of free diabetes treatment with standard metformin tablets
🔹Free blood/urine tests at both visits: Oral glucose tolerance test, Complete Blood Count, HbA1C, lipid profile, liver & kidney function and Vit B12
🔹Free body composition scan (muscle mass/fat mass content)
🔹Free consultations with the Endocrinologist.
Participants will be reimbursed for their time.
