It’s August. The summer is over and my last year of high school has started. Let’s go over what I’ve been up to this summer..

In June, I went to Camp Horizon for a week. I went to Melanie Martinez concert which was amazing!! I got a new job at Marble Slab Creamery. Mom, Chloe, and I are staying in Pensacola Fl for a little while and we brought 2 out of 3 of my cats.

In July, I got to go on a trip to NYC thank to the Sunshine Kids foundation. I had so much fun and made many new friends. I worked some more and went to a Taylor Swift karaoke with my mom and Chloe. It was fun.

So far in August I have prepped to start homeschool and got all of my courses figured out. I had an MRI and got the result, which was CLEAR! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Now, on Wednesday, I am getting my port removed and I’m going to start my senior year off with a bang.

Thanks to everyone for supporting me and sending your love ♥️ I love you guys!!

Hello everyone!

I know it’s been a while but I have been very busy as of late. Let me update you guys..

Well I had a fantastic Halloween! I went trick or treating with my cousin and mom. I dressed up as Maleficent and made almost the entire costume 😁 I had a lot of fun making it.

I also traveled to North Carolina for a week with my family. We stayed in the mountains, played a lot of games, went apple picking, sight seeing, gem mining, and much more. It was a lot of fun.

I also had an MRI this past Sunday. I got the results on Monday and it came back NED! (No Evidence of Disease) Very very exciting. I do have to finish chemo out until May. Next MRI in 3 months.

If y’all want to keep more in touch you can follow my instagram .hollis.128 I post a lot on my story. Thank you all for not giving up on me even when I don’t post 😂 I love you guys!

Wow! What a start to the Halloween season.

I had a lot of fun these past couple weeks. My cousin Charlotte came over and we carved pumpkin helmets. Me and another cousin of mine, Taylor, went to a pumpkin patch where we did a little photo shoot. It was really fun.

The past couple of treatments have been ok. I have been feeling ok. Very tired but still up for doing normal things. I’m almost half way done with chemo ♥️

One of my projects that I’ve been working on is my Halloween costume. I’m going as Maleficent this year. I have a lot of trips coming up that I am excited about.

I’ll try to update y’all next two weeks. Have a good week 👋🏻

(This was taken from my moms post. Sometimes I don’t feel the best and don’t want to post for that week, if you are wanting to know how I am my mom always posts. This is her post for this week.)

Round 9 of 24. Round 5 of 12.

Almost half way there.

Bella’s counts look good and she is feeling well. We were in a semi private room this round that was a lot quieter. And, of course Pop joined to get beat again in Backgammon. 😉

Bella has decided to finish her Junior year from home. She could handle it physically, but with missing so much school for treatment she was feeling very stressed with being perpetually behind. And, because I want her to have the least stress possible to give her body what it needs to heal I backed her decision. She will have a teacher come to our home twice a week to help her with the credits she needs to graduate. We have plans of art classes at the library, cooking classes, college visits, and lots of time outside *when it’s not 5000 degrees 🥵

Sometimes in life you just have to adjust the sail.

Hello everyone!

I am having my Mom type this out for me today because I am feeling very tired after my day of chemotherapy. The past two weeks have been busy as usual and there are lots of updates.

First of all, I got my braces removed! Which is really weird and exciting. The next step with the orthodontist is to get fitted for the Invisalign which is coming up this Monday!

I accepted a role in my school’s play this Fall. The character’s name is Amy and I will post the link as soon as tickets are available for anyone who would like to come see the show.

This week was round 7 of 24 infusion chemos through the IV, and tonight starts round 4 of 12 oral chemo. These chemos usually make me feel very tired, and sometimes nauseous. The doctor has said that as the treatment progresses I may get more tired. So, I am making sure that I get plenty of rest and I don’t try to do too much. My appetite is going strong and I even managed to talk my Mom into making ‘walking tacos’ for dinner tonight. Highly recommend!

What is your favorite food?

I’ll be back in two weeks for another update. Thank you all for sticking with me *even on the weeks that I don’t post* and following my story!
♥️

Helloooo!!!

This post is soooo overdue. It has been a month or so since the last one so let me update all of you…
In the past month I…

-Had 2 rounds of chemo
-Started junior year of highscool with my little sister, Chloe
-Rode my first theme park like ride after the brain surgery I had in May
-Got my hair trimmed and styled
-Beat more people in backgammon
-Got a scan that showed that the cancer is responding to treatment
-and so much more

It’s been a wild month. I am doing pretty good. I auditioned for the schools play yesterday and the cast list comes out Friday. I am very excited for school and everything that is planned for me this next month. Thank you all for sticking around and being patient with me. Until next time!!!

Hello 👋🏻

Yesterday I went in for my ✨4th✨ round of chemo. I’ll let you in on a little secret… If you plan on coming into the clinic for a short infusion, for instance about 2 hours, you better clear your schedule because we were there for a whopping ❗️6❗️hours. It took so long because it takes a while for them to order and then administer the chemo. It was ok though because I brought plenty of stuff to do. My Grannie went with me this time and she got to see what it was like in the outpatient clinic.

During the time that we were waiting for the chemo to get ordered, I was trying to figure out how many weeks had gone by from the 48 weeks of chemo and discovered that I have 40 more weeks of chemo. One of the nurses had a good idea for me to count down till I was done. The idea was to make a paper chain and each chain represents one week. So that was my project for the day. In one of the photos you can see the finished chain. It’s probably three times my size 😂. So every Wednesday I will remove one chain.

After the appointment we had planned on going to Sushi Train 🍣 🚂, but I had started to feel very tired and just out of it. So once I started to feel better, we plannned to go today. I slept for a good amount of the day then went to sushi train for dinner. It was really cool. I have been to sushi train 2 time before but it was about 5 years ago that I had gone.

This entire week I have been staying with my Pop and Grannie while my mom was in Florida at the beach (again 🤣). I had a very good week including a Frist visit, swimming, resin art, etc.

What has your week been like?

Last week, I had a blast! Camp horizon was so much fun. I was able to meet so many amazing people. There were many activities including canoeing, swimming, sports, puttery, etc. We were not allowed to bring our phones or any other electronics which I loved! It gave us so much time to just talk and get to know one another without being distracted by our cell phones. I cannot wait to go back next year.

As of right now, I am sitting in one of the chair in oncology waiting for the chemo to be administered. I brought my coloring book and some ramen for lunch 😋 I will try to post some photos later if I remember.

Hello everyone! I know it late on making this post as my last treatment was almost a week ago 😂

On Tuesday of last week, my mom took me to go visit an integrative doctor. We talked with him for an hour and then they drew my blood. We are wait for his suggestions on what we can do to help the treatment and to help get rid of the cancer.

The next day on Wednesday I went to get the second dose of chemo. They accessed my port and I listened to “Don’t Stop Me Now” by queen. ( some of y’all might remember that that was the song that I used to listen to all the time the last time I had treatment :)) It was a whopping 3 hours long for the chemo to finish 😳 In the meantime, I played backgammon with Pop and colored in my Coloring book. The next couple of days I was very tired but was not sick at all, very happy about that 😊

I hope all of you are having a great summer! I cannot believe that it’s almost over already 😩 Although on the bright side, I am going to Camp Horizon next week! I’m so exciting because this year they are back in person. This will be the first time I’ve been there when it’s been in person. I’ll let you all know about it when I get back!!

Hey!
It’s been a bit..

Over the past week, I’ve endured 5 days worth of chemo which included a lot of nausea and tiredness. I got to start up my bead collection with the child health worker that works at the hospital. It didn’t take me long to recover from the chemos side affects. I feel completely fine, it’s almost as if I didn’t just get a bunch of chemicals injected into me 😂

Im still working when I can and feel able to. I also have gone on walks as well. I plan on getting in the water this weekend and going to florida again soon. I’ve definitely got a busy summer planned.

What is something that you are looking forward to this summer?

First chemo this time around started today. I had the port installed this morning and woke up with it already accessed. Very happy about that because that was one of the things that I was worried about. The chemo is about 90 minutes long and next time It’ll be 180 minutes. I’m still sitting here as I’m writing this 🙂

I got to catch up with the courage beads that they do here in oncology. I’m very happy that they are still doing them.

I will give you all some advice though, if you ever age backwards and somehow find yourself under 18 and for some reason need to come to the 6th floor doctors offices here at vandy childrens, ask for Micheal. He’s top notch. 🤣

Happy Tuesday everyone!

As some of you might know, I recently got back from a fun filled weekend at the beach 🏖 I had so much fun even tho I couldn’t swim in the water because of my recent surgery. I built multiple sand castles and treated my momma to some lovely dinners with the Venmo’s that I received just before leaving. (Thank you to everyone who gifted me those monies ❤️)

Right before I left, I found out that my school councilor from last year nominated me for a scholarship. The scholarship is for a private all girls college in Macon, Georgia called Wesleyan College. I was selected for it! It’s a full ride scholarship of 15k a year 🤯🙌🏻 I just wanted to let you all know because it is definitely worth sharing.

I have been out of school the past 2 weeks recovering and just went back today. My school ends on May 25th (the same day I start chemo and have my port surgery, and will repeat every other Wednesday for 48 weeks). Just wanted to update y’all and give y’all some good news 🙂 Have a good week everyone!!

Good afternoon everyone 🙃

We received a call from oncology that the results of the biopsy are in. The tumor they removed is the same cancer as the last time. They plan to continue with their original plan of 48 weeks of chemo starting on May 25th. At my next follow up appointment, they are going to schedule the port surgery, which will be out patient.

I’m going into this with my arms flexed and my boxing gloves on 💪🏻🥊
Get ready cancer! You’re about to face my wrath… again!

After 1 night in the ICU, 2 days in a recovery room, 1 eviction notice, and lots and lots of sleep, I’m finally leaving.

It has been a crazy start to my week but thank goodness I’m going home now. The surgery went very well and recovery was fast. The tumor went to pathology. And now we wait…

Hey all!!

Just an update on what we know…

I had an appointment today to meet up with the neurologist that will be doing my surgery. He told us how he plans to go in and remove the tumor. He was very confident that it was going to be successful. He said that there is little to no chance of risk (about 1-2%).

My surgery is on Monday. I will be in the ICU recovering for 1-3 days. After that time in the ICU, I will be able to go home and recover for 2 weeks. I wont be able to drive during that time. Then for 3 months after the surgery on Monday, I wont be able to do anything daredevilish/hardcore (ride rollercoasters, zip lines, rope coarses etc.) 😭😩

So this weekend is going to be all about fun and excitement. I am a bit nervous for Monday ( as anyone would be), but I’m ready to get that stinkin tumor out of my head!

Now, I have a question for you. What the most hardcore/daredevilish thing you have ever done?

Stay positive ♥️

Hello everyone.

Welcome to my new page, Bella Brave. This is a merged page of Sweet Bella and Bella’s Battle. I have made the executive decision to create my own page instead of having two separate pages.

For those of you who are new, a few years ago in 2018, I was diagnosed with cancer. I went through many proton radiation and chemo treatments up until August 2019 when I was told I had beat cancer.

About 7 weeks ago, when I had had my 6 month MRI done, we were told that there was some change and that they would have to do another MRI to make sure it doesn’t grow. After the check up MRI, I was told that the cancer was back.

My amazing doctor informed me of the next steps they are planning to take to get me right back in remission. About a years worth of chemo treatments, biweekly for fluid chemo and monthly for oral chemo. None of the treatments will be inpatient.

I’m doing fine for now. I will keep you all updated on how I’m doing. I am really looking forward to this summer and all the adventures I’m going on and getting to see all the friendly nurses that I met last time around.

Stay positive you guys. Sending much love 💙

-Bella
