I very recently had a dream where my autistic son told me that he knew he could come into this life because he would be safe.

For a long time, he wasn't safe—born with half a heart, he endured significant trauma surviving after three heart surgeries and other interventions. I initially thought the physical pain was the worst of it, but over the years, I realized the lack of emotional support had an even deeper impact as I was consumed by fear. Firstly of losing him and then for his future. Being surrounded by this energy of fear and his openness to receive it, left him feeling unsafe when he had to learn about this world.

Despite the difficult times and his tantrums and outbursts, my desire for a meaningful bond with my son sent me on a journey of deep self-discovery. Through my dedication to trauma recovery and inner work, I've reached a point where either his higher self or my higher self—maybe they're the same—now communicated to me that he feels safely received. As I am now in acceptance of him as he is, with all his differences, this has created a meaningful connection between us.

Now, he cuddles up in bed with me and says, "You are my best heart." This is real, it's not a dream any longer.

Thank you, my special (needs) child, for bravely navigating this challenging journey of being human in a world discovering the true essence of love. Your presence is the greatest gift I've ever received, embodying the beauty and wisdom of creation. You reflect back to me what I need, and the love I give to you ultimately returns to me. Any fear, regret, shame, or resistance I harbor only distances me from myself.
I'm just an ordinary mother, often doubting if my best is sufficient - but then your words remind me, "you are my bèst mom".
