It’s a dangerous pathway to rescue others from their own choices. When we rescue them from the consequence of their actions, we rob them of facing reality, and learning necessary life lessons. The person considers themselves a victim and will then look for a rescuer. And the pattern continues, and they never learn that there are consequences for their choices and actions. Make sure your empathy has boundaries, or you could be overstepping someone’s life lessons, and further enabling them.

The very nature of God is to be compassionate. And in His compassion, He will allow us to go through trials. Through perseverance the Lord works to mature us so that we are not lacking anything. Leave room for the Holy Spirit to counsel and comfort.

Be an encourager, not an enabler.

🔹️The word "empath" is the world's term for someone that has a lot of empathy. It's the spiritual gift known as the gift of Mercy, as found in Romans 12:8. Boundaries are necessary for those of us who have the Mercy gift. When we're not yielding to God and letting other things come before Him, codependency happens because we're out of alignment with the will of God. God never intended for us to give to another person to the point of depletion. Boundaries!

How many times did we enable toxic behavior because we tried to help or thought we could fix it? We are not in our lane any longer. We are out of God's boundaries.
