I don’t eat gluten often… THIS BREAD we all agreed was the best we ever had ~ rosemary sea salt focaccia 🤤 and they had a vegan menu I got a fungi fettuccine (DELICIOUS) & vegan caprese 🤯

I remember when I was doing my yoga teacher certification (in middle school lol) and one of our weekly homework assignments was to have a 15 min mindful meal a day and track / write your experience… I thought this was SO HARD
It was so hard to make the meal last 15 minutes, so hard to be present with each bite, so hard to be consistent
But I can attest today that mindful eating is one of most profound & underrated daily habits/Spirutual practices you can incorporate
you have at least 3 opportunities built in to your day 🤯
I love to look back at my younger self and see how far I’ve come ~ mindful meals are a joy now!

recipe only works if you use a high speed blender ~ 3/4 cup oats, 1/2 cup almond milk, 3/4 th banana (we use frozen), vanilla, cinnamon, pinch of salt, pinch/ tsp baking soda and baking powder

In my last post I shared many paths to Unity and I attribute much of my wisdom path to my mom and the courses the Treehouse offers
Mindfulness has been an overused buzzword in the last few years and I see how the overuse is diluting the perceived potency mindfulness can have on one’s life
I get it tho it’s challenging to cultivate it especially without a guide, it’s possible but not for most of us with busy lives (and infinite distractions)
So this is a happy birthday post for my mama, an embodied woman of the wisdom she teaches AND it’s a shoutout to her education company because I would love more people to try out meditation, mindfulness, compassion in a guided program with a supportive community who are also walking the path to peace 💚

Unity is my word for 2024
as I see the division in this country and between nations and foresee more as we enter a presidential election year
This division arises from our illusion of separateness… we are becoming more separate from ourselves, our fellow humans, Nature, and the intelligence of the universe you may call God
There are many paths to take towards Unity
The places I know of to start are any of those aforementioned ways we are separating ourselves…some ideas below
- Connect with Yourself: cultivate self-compassion, sense your body
- Connect with Humans: volunteer for a cause that involves others, be part of a community that is working towards a bigger humanity goal
- Connect with Nature: spend silent time outside being curious, grow an edible plant and eat it
- Connect with God / Universe / Divine Love: people have many ways of connecting, if spirituality has a bad rep for you consider getting in touch with the previous areas, or if you don’t know where to begin get curious about a wisdom tradition learn a bit see if it resonates, learn meditation
This is not meant to be preechy I hope to inspire Unity, Connection, Harmony in 2024 so it’s an invitation to join me :)

I’ll be entering Master Program for Clinical Mental Health Counseling ~ it’s a hybrid program so I’m not moving to Cali but I’ll be here & there over the next 3 years!

New Go-To Summer Lunch🤤
Perfect blend of creamy and crunchy and SO SIMPLE!
-2 almond flour tortillas
- homemade refried beans (s/o for da best kine)
- hummus
- 1-2 baby cucumbers (fresh from )
- Kale Veggie Burger
I heat up the tortillas on a pan with the refried beans smeared down the center.
Toast the veggie burger
Layer on hummus, cucumbers, and veggie burger crumbles!
I could see herbs and fresh tomatoes go well on this too 😋

Anyone else going through life changes right now? Are you noticing any of your friends or peers going through life transitions?
For my own life and so many others in my life we are moving through changes right now. The closing of one chapter and start to a new one brings up many emotions
Excitement. Sadness. Overwhelm. Wonder. Worry.
Handling all the practical logistics to life changes and having all these emotions bubbling to the surface can get exhausting so I want to share what helps me in hopes that one of you will benefit too
- Self-compassion: I remind myself “I’m doing the best I can” and release the self-judgment when I think I’m not doing “enough”
- Take at least one day a week fully off: no packing, no computer work, no planning, just BE where you are, soak in this moment of your life because it’s changing
- Have a daily practice that grounds you (mine: meditation, nature walks, sweaty workout, sweet potatoes)

Did you know that “taking a deep breath” is not always the best way to calm yourself!?
Actually to down regulate your nervous system a longer exhale is suggested 💙😌✨
Deep breaths still feel good, but if I’m feeling anxious or caffeinated jitters I will choose a longer exhale style breath to calm me and it works!
My two favs:
1) two short inhales through nose, exhale blowing out mouth (you can catch me doing this when I see a big set coming🫣🌊)
2) breath in 4 sec, hold 7 secs, breathe out mouth 8 secs
Your breath is a tool you can bring every where you go - explore with what breathing styles work best for you 💨

My eulogy 🫶🏼
Tashi can hang 😎 never would we have thought that a snorkie from the bougie$t dog store would have turned out to be such a bad ass😅 she was fearless, down for whatever adventure
We figured out she loved fishing and swimming when all of the sudden she jumped in the lake to chase after the lure we just threw out and we didn’t even know she could swim! once a fish was reeled in she wanted to attack it… there was a phase where you just picked up a fishing pole and she started getting excited and going to the dock
Her other phase was a serious protection over any large ball shaped item ⚽️🏀🏐🥥which became an issue bringing her to our elementary intramural soccer games cause she would run onto the field to get the ball and bite you if you tried to take it away…but people loved her and the photographer honestly had more soccer pictures of her at the end of the year than my sister and me😂😂 she would actually back it up and dribble it around
You didn’t want to mess with her (but Tori did daily) she was a feisty character that did not want to be disturbed while resting and always protected our house, squeezing through the fence to chase after any neighbor, barking up a storm..the only thing that scared her was thunder she would shed blood eating out doors and laundry machine vent ducts to get into the smallest crack she could find
Otherwise she went great with the busy flow of life being a Shutt… constantly being dressed up by Tori, going on road trips with dad, runs with Lizzie, errands with mom, her favorite tho was boat days at boca lake
And even after many near death experiences she bounced back and lived a long life full of treats ❤️
Tashi is the shorten version of Tashi Delay a Tibetan greeting translating to “I honor the greatness in you” - very fitting 🥰🥰 she will forever remind me to live up to the greatness within me 🐶love u Tashi
