I've started a new dietary regime to improve my gut health, which I'm keen to do, both to set me up well for the year to come and to redress some of the damage that has been caused over my lifetime. I find at this time of the year, as we are being encouraged to feast, to dine out, and to eat in excess, that these Five Contemplations are so helpful, encouraging us to eat mindfully and with respect 🍂🧡🍂
"When we eat a meal, there are two objects of our mindfulness: the food and the people who are there with us during the meal. Practicing in this way we are sure to find better ways of consuming food without exploiting our Earth and other living beings. Before eating a meal you can read, either aloud or to yourself, the Five Contemplations. Of course we don’t just read the Contemplations but we meditate on the words throughout the meal."
