I used to feel miserable in my skin.
People who know me now laugh whenever I mention it.. They believe I’m joking.
But, growing up I was extremely self-conscious, indecisive, and passive.
I was bullied a lot.
I would avoid crossing people I knew on the street.
I stuttered when I talked to girls, and I was an immense people-pleaser - a chameleon of sorts.
I shrieked myself so as not to draw attention on myself.
I feared what could happen if they found out who I really am.
Because I hated my life, I cycled in and out of depression loops for years on end.
To self-medicate I gamed my feelings away incessantly (as if they can be gamed away).
There were months I was down in the dumps, didn’t leave my house, and stayed in gaming and watching videos.
And then there were months where I read every book I could get my hands on, trained my ass off and tried to become more social.
Each cycle of introversion and depression negated any progress I had made.
I remember falling asleep and watching the same nightmares frequently. I was small, and I was stepped on by people I knew.
But I never stopped trying.
I decided early on (I was around 15) I decided this wasn’t going to be permanent.
So I buried myself in books. I read everything I could get my hands on.
I tried everything I learned.
Most of the things people write and talk about how to increase your self-confidence are impractical and pure bu****it.
The self-improvement space is rife with theoretical, inapplicable advice that just sounds and looks good.
Trust me.
I’ve tried a lot of things.
And if there is one thing I learned throughout that process…
…is that it takes hard fu***ng work.
Consistently.

Know that it won’t be easy.
But, well, it will be worth it 100%.
And, remember, nobody has it all figured out.
Despite what they try to sell you, or how they try to appear.
But feeling amazing in your skin is absolutely possible.
