We are a team of highly-responsive coaches! I remember when I had my first coach years ago, sometimes a week would go by before I would get a ten word email back from my check-in. I knew that I never wanted Vegan Proteins to be like that.

We do in-depth weekly video check-ins, and have a 1 business day response time for our one-on-one clients. (And actually it’s often same day!)

What does this mean? It means sometimes we’re home, sometimes we’re in coffee shops, sometimes we’re on an airplane, and sometimes we’re in an Airbnb and everyone is asleep so we have to sit in the bathroom. Whatever it takes, our clients know they are number 1.

🍽️ Eat Less, Move More - True though it may be, does this advice actually help anyone? 🏃‍♂️

The timeless advice ‘eat less, move more’ - it’s the key to weight loss, right? Well, yes. It actually is. But, here’s the thing, if everyone knew how to do it effectively, they would do it in a heartbeat! ❤️

I heard a comedian talk about receiving this advice and her response was “Yeah I know....You know I’m not fat because I’m stupid, right?” See, it’s not about hearing the phrase. it’s about understanding the ‘how.’ 🤔🔑

How do you actually build your days around these principles in a way that feels good and sustainable for you? And THAT answer can be a lot more complicated (but doable with the right plan!)

Why is no one talking about how funny this is? 😂

Yes, bioidentical testosterone replacement therapy is derived from soy and yams in medical labs. I just think it’s funny how the same guys thumping their chests about how soy will ruin their gains, don’t even know this fun fact.

The main argument about soy’s “feminizing effects” is due to the isoflavones that soy contains. But here are some other foods high in phyto-estrogens that no one seems to think twice about: peanuts, flax, apricots, sesame seeds, garlic, coffee & beer to name a few. It’s almost like people just want to hate on soy 🧐

Just to be clear, eating soy will neither raise nor decrease your testosterone levels according to a meta-analysis of 41 different human trials (PMID: 33383165). They had no effect on testosterone or estrogen markers.

Soy is safe and healthy for men to consume. In fact, several clinical studies have demonstrated cardiovascular and bone health benefits from consuming soy.

I think this video speaks for itself, but if anyone had any leftover doubt that The Plant Paradox was anything other than a garbage book, just consider the source. (And you can always check out redpenreviews.com to see how evidence based any nutrition book is)

Kudos to and .mike for calling this guy out on some of his more ridiculous claims. But honestly, this one takes the cake.

The best thing about flexible dieting⤵️
is that you can eat the foods you love! And I prefer mock meats over protein powder - it’s that simple!

And I need all the of my vegan strong friends to listen up right now 📣

For anyone who says you HAVE to eat certain things (or CAN’T eat certain things) to get lean, fit and strong - hear me out…

If you’ve been told that there is a special list of foods you have to eat if you want to lose fat and build muscle, here’s a truth bomb for ya:

👉🏼 In EVERY study ever done on rigid dieting (good/bad foods, rigid rules about what to eat) vs flexible dieting - flexible dieting has come out on top. Both groups may lose the same amount of weight, but unlike the rigid dieters, more flexible approaches keep it off.

👉🏼 Studies suggest that 80-90% of all eating disorders start with rigid dieting.

👉🏼 You can eat all kinds of food and still get in shape - when you know what you are doing and how to build your perfect meal plan.

Unpopular opinion: Many people who feel like their rest times are too long are not pushing their sets hard enough. If you’re ready to do another set of lunges after 60 seconds, how hard could that set have possibly been?

When lifting for muscle growth or strength gains, the main goal is to make the TARGET MUSCLE the LIMITING MUSCLE for the next set. Not your cardio, not assisting muscles, and not your mindset.

Many people from a group fitness or HIIT background are used to not feeling “worked” unless their heart is constantly pounding and they’re dripping sweat. And that is definitely a workout - for sure. But if the goal is to build muscle, you’re going to get significantly better results with longer rests and harder sets.

Next time you’re lifting, rest long enough in between sets so that the TARGET MUSCLE feels like it’s ready to get at least 5-8 good reps, your synergistic muscles are recovered enough that they won’t be the limiting factor, your breathing has returned back to baseline, and you’re mentally prepared for another hard set.

And use your head: a set of barbell squats will require more rest (~3-4 min) than a set of cable curls (~1-2 min).

Remember, we’re not lifting to train our cardio (unless you specifically are, in which case, more power to you) - we’re lifting to build muscle and strength. I’m a fan of keeping lifting lifting and cardio cardio. Stop rushing. Not all workouts have to leave you panting in a puddle on the floor.

Vegans miss out on nothing… except maybe unnecessary cruelty and cholesterol. I can honestly say that there is nothing I feel like I miss having been vegan for 22 years now.

And moreover, I don’t even feel like I have to sacrifice any of my fitness goals while still having occasional treats like this awesome s’mores!

It all comes down to the knowledge on how to eat in a way that supports your goals, but also leaves some room to feed the soul as well. What’s even wilder is that you can be reaching your goals, not in spite of these treats, but because of them - WHAT?! True story

If anyone is struggling with this at all, this is what we do, and you know where to find us.

And also someone say a prayer that the fluff that Dandies just released makes it to Massachusetts, where it rightfully belongs. Amen. 🙏🏼

I am so busy sharing nutrition tips with our clients, that I don’t have time to share publicly. But this one is too good not to share if you are sick to death of protein powder:

Adding soy crispies (or edamame puffs) to your breakfast! There’s no reason you can’t hit your protein goals, even if mornings are hectic.

All you have to do is sprinkle them on your cereal, vegan yogurt, or smoothie bowls, and you’ll instantly up your protein game by 20g per 1/3 c!

Have you ever heard of the “health halo”? (Caveat - That orville popcorn isn’t vegan so I wouldn’t eat it anyway - while ironically most movie theater popcorn is....🤔

Many people think that if a food is organic, it must be 1) healthier, 2) better, 3) lower in calories, or 4) worth more money, even if the food itself is the same.

Putting a healthy sounding label on a food can change how people think about it right away, even if the food itself hasn’t changed.

When a food has one good quality, your good feelings about it may spread to other qualities. This is an example of the health halo.

For example, when companies put “reduced sugar” on their goods, people think that those products also have fewer calories, even though this isn’t always the case.

Or a product that has some proven healthy attributes (like apple cider vinegar and blood sugar) but is then used as a magic bullet for many other health problems for which it has no proof.

In the same way that ice baths are popular right now for many reasons other than what the evidence shows.

Many businesses take advantage of this by putting false food claims on their goods because they know that these can change how you feel about the products.

For example:

“Made with real ingredients” - ummmm. duh.
“Reduced fat” - reduced from what exactly? How much less is it?
That phrase “superfood” - don’t get me started
“Gluten-Free” means exactly that. A food without gluten. Not a healthier food. Not a lower calorie food. And 9/10 not a tastier food.

Remember to be careful with this! Check labels - sometimes, they will surprise you!

www.veganproteins.com What started as a simple vegan supplement shop, over time, has become so much more. As the world becomes a much more vegan friendly place (yes!), we have decided that our supplement shop it no longer as needed as it once was and we’ve decided to spend the bulk of our energies on coaching, which has long been our biggest passion.

Dani Taylor and Giacomo Marchese, veganproteins.com owners, work one on one with vegan strength athletes of all levels to help them achieve their strength and physique goals. From brand new lifter to pro level bodybuilders, we guide people through nutritional goals and training plans to help them get to the next level. One thing we pride ourselves on is meeting clients where they are to help them continuously grow--no cookie cutter plans here! Every nutrition and training program is 100% tailored to the individual client with frequent check ins via our online portal and voice messaging.

For those not ready to commit to one on one coaching, we also offer video consults. This is a good option for those who want to make sure that they’re on the right path, or who just need some tweaks to their habits to keep progress moving.

Lastly, we try our best to put out some of the best quality vegan strength content we can. Our free podcast, Muscles by Brussels radio (which can be found on iTunes or at veganproteins.com under the “podcast” tab) has been downloaded nearly 100 thousand times!
