Oreo - My cat with amyloidosis Oreo, born August 2014, is a mixed breed cat of unknown bloodlines, I adopted her in 2015 from a local animal welfare group in Hong Kong.

She was diagnosed with systemic amyloidosis in March 2019.

See how lovely my Oreo is. She's gained all the weight, as well as grew all the hair back, which were lost back in March when she underwent surgery. Let's keep fighting. I love you my precious.❤

Eeverything's looking good, actually a big improvement since the last blood work done in March.

Guess we are on the right track. Will continue with the enzymes, supplements & weekly hyperbaric oxygen therapy and go back for check-up three months later.

Oreo had 2nd hyperbaric oxygen treatment this past Saturday.
More active and better appetite.
Hope it keeps up.

The past few weeks has been an emotional roller coaster ride. I cried over renal failure, lymphoma then amyloidosis.

The days immediately following Oreo's surgery was particularly hard for me, visiting her at the vet, looking for treatment options, researching on supplements which could help the condition....etc.

Since conventional veterinary medicine doesn't offer any solution, I'm looking into alternative treatments in the hopes that it could at least offer some relieve for Oreo.

Brought Oreo to see the vet in mid-Feb because she was drinking excessively, blood and urine tests indicated that she was in renal failure. The vet was very concerned that such a young cat could be in renal failure, further testing and possibly biopsy of the kidney was required.

Returned to the vet the following week for further testing, ultrasound showed abnormalities not only in kidneys, but in spleen, small intestines and lymph nodes as well. Oreo underwent surgery for biopsy of the abnormal tissues, after opening her up, the vet discovered abnormalities in her liver as well. Samples were taken from her liver, speen, small intestines and lymph nods for lab testing, the kidneys were in such poor condition the vet did not want to touch them.

The preliminary diagnose was lymphoma, I was ready to fight cancer with her, got all the facts and different treatment options, but the lab results came back, no cancer, it was amyloidosis.
