Hearing this from clients just makes my heart sing!

"What Are You Really Hungry For is the best program that I have encountered. This program addresses both the food side of weight loss (nutrition and how to sense the correct amount) and the emotional challenges that are at the root of overeating, in a practical manner.
When I first ran across Lisa Goldberg I was a 70 year old woman who had been struggling with excess weight for nearly 60 years. Although I was no longer at my highest weight, I was still carrying 15 to 20 excess pounds I could not get rid of. I could not stick to a diet more than a few weeks, and any success was rapidly reversed. Over the years I tried several weight loss systems, including private and group coaching. Nothing worked. Yet, discouraged as I was, there was something about what Lisa was saying that resonated with me. I knew the underlying problem was psychological, and yet the solution had to be more than just understanding why I always sabotaged my own efforts.

I find that after six months in this program, I am 12 pounds lighter, enjoying how my clothes fit, and how I look (even in photographs). I have a new relationship with food, in that I have discovered the right amount to sustain my body without ever feeling deprived or excessively hungry. I am losing weight without dieting, or eliminating any food groups, including the occasional dessert or drink. I have learned that rather than cover up uncomfortable emotions by distracting myself with food, I can look for the message or just live with a moment of discomfort. Do you tend to eat your feelings but those feelings have nothing to do with actual feeling hunger?

Do you seek out food because you feel:

• Stressed
• Angry
• Tired
• Lonely
• Anxious
• Guilty
• Bored
• Frustrated...( the list goes on)

There are so many emotions that you try to distract from and you do this often with food.

You may even find yourself eating as a form of procrastination. You know, those tasks you dread doing so you decide to get something to eat instead.

If you find yourself "feeling like" eating but that feeling isn’t ‘physical hunger’, you're an 'emotional eater'.

Emotional eating doesn't always look like a binge but a binge is always emotional.

What I have found in my 20+ years of working as a nutritionist and weight loss coach is that most people struggle with their weight because of two reasons:

1) They overeat too much food at their meals
2) They eat when eating has nothing to do with being physically hungry.

If this is you, are you connected to the triggers and reasons WHY you overeat or eat when you are not even hungry?

If you have been struggling with food, weight and dieting for more years than you care to count, stuffing down your emotions with food is the obstacle standing in the way of your weight loss.

The good news is that you can learn to stop eating your feelings and only eat when you are physically hungry!

The first step to become aware 'what are the feelings' that you are eating and recognizing WHAT you are not wanting to feel.

My guess is that you often lack this awareness of what feelings you are eating because your brain goes in autopilot when you emotionally eat.

One of my clients referred to feeling like her brain and body were 'hijacked'.

By focusing the coaching on the inside work, my client was able to lose 30lbs and maintain the loss.

"When I found Lisa, I was hoping to lose weight, but I was not expecting to completely change my relationship to eating. Recently a client shared...

“I thought when we started working together that we were going to be talking more about my diet, what not to eat and getting more exercise. What I’m just realizing is there is so much more involved to why I've struggled with my weight all these years. As you’ve said, it’s not that I don’t know what to do. But I am now seeing that I am so often triggered to want to eat and I never recognized it. Doing this work has been really eye-opening for me.”

Weight loss is so misunderstood. The dieting industry and the years of perpetual dieting had led you to believe that ALL you have to do is eat healthier and stop eating carbs and you’ll lose weight.

You spend a length of time eating healthy and cutting out carbs and not surprisingly, you lose weight--- just not for long.

WHY??? Because this is not the formula to changing your unhealthy relationship with food and with yourself… and it’s especially not the formula to lasting weight loss. (This fact I am sure you’ve learned the hard way)

If you never address the deeper reasons WHY you use food as a way to cope with your emotions, you will forever feel like you can’t get off the dieting rollercoaster.

Pam has an overbearing husband. When he’s upset about something, he always directs his anger towards her.

It’s no surprise that this leaves her feeling sad, angry and resentful.

When this happens, Pam does what she has always done when she experiences these emotions - she eats them.

Only there is not enough food that will change the feelings of sadness, anger and resentment that Pam feels. The only thing that changes for Pam when this happens ... is her weight.

The irony is, that although Pam has been repeating this pattern for about 40 years, she never put the pieces together.

Instead, Pam always blamed herself for being weak, having no willpower and the worst…seeing herself as a failure.

Now Pam is doing the inside work to connect her head with her heart and her stomach to end the cycle of emotional eating.
