Because of their extensive training in the treatment of obesity, W8MD physicians offer the highest qualification to design individualized medical weight loss treatments tailored for each patient, in addition to offering life-long weight loss maintenance plans. Our physicians are passionate about educating the public on the metabolic effects of weight and have appeared on many Radio and TV interviews. W8MD Medical Weight Loss Program, unlike so many other “fad diets” and “gimmicky quick weight loss program” that offer unrealistic outcomes, our physicians offer each patient a real life solution. W8MD Medical Weight Loss receives a large number of referrals from satisfied patients, as well as referrals from Family doctors, Internal Medicine doctors, Cardiologist, and other physician specialties. At W8MD, we only partner with our patients for the metabolic syndrome(Insulin Resistance) and work with our patient’s primary physicians to ensure long term improved health of the associated health problems that accompany obesity. The primary or the patient’s treating physician will manage the associated medical conditions such as high cholesterol while our role is to reverse the underlying insulin resistance and reduce inflammation caused by the abdominal fat to improve overall health and well being. Health Insurances Accepted
We are one of the very few bariatric programs in the country that will try to work with your health insurance to have these services covered. Medicare recently approved coverage for intensive behaviour therapy for weight loss for upto 6 months and if there was improvement to certain extent, the coverage can be extended. While individual plans vary, many other private insurances also cover for weight reduction and behaviour counseling for weight, and nutriton. Should your insurance not cover for these services, the consultation is only $90.00 USD which is one of the most affordable. Wellness is Our Mission
The central principle to understanding why patients gain weight is to understand the role hormones such as Insulin play in the development of weight gain. Since the introduction of food pyramid which was flawed and recently withdrawn, our understanding has been skewed to eating less fat but high carbohydrate foods that in turn lead to insulin resistance. Insulin being an anabolic or body building hormone, leads to abdominal or central weight gain(fat belly). The fat in and around the adbomen produces inflamatory chemicals which can lead to many other health problems as inflammation drives many deseases. We also understand the importance of Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio, and plant based antioxidants called polyphenols play in reducing overall body inflammation and integrate this in our program help to reduce inflammation. Our goal at W8MD Wellness Programs, is to attempt to reverse the underlying insulin resistance to reduce overall inflammation for keeping you well and healthy. Our Passion
W8MD physicians are passionate about treating the metabolic effects of obesity and take a personal stake in each one of his patients. Our physicians partner with each patient to combat the chronic illness of obesity begins with the patient and ultimately perpetuates into the household. What W8MD Wellness Centers of America physicians offer to their patients, is truly an effort of passion to overcome obesity and attempt to make a difference. TESTIMONIAL: I am not a person who uses the word 'miraculous' lightly. However, that is how I would describe my experience with W8MD.

I had struggled with my weight and the seemingly uncontrollable craving for inappropriate and/or excess food all my life. I am 65 years old, and had been obese since I was 3.

Thanks to the medication – in my case Phentermine - and dietary approach (with the emphasis on high protein and minimal carbs) I learned to utilize with this program, I've not been obese now for approximately 10 years (I was 100 lbs overweight when I first walked into W8MD’s office in 2014 - and I have maintained at least an 80 pound weight loss consistently.)

The phentermine and W8MD’s program made this possible, however sometimes it was still something of a struggle – the uncontrollable urge to eat inappropriately would still be a nagging, gnawing feeling. This urge could occur despite all reason to the contrary, sometimes in the middle of the night. There were even times I woke up in the morning, and the only way I realized I had eaten during the night was the evidence of dirty dishes and empty containers.

I was and am still extremely grateful for the success I have achieved through this program, and the support and encouragement I received from Dr. Tumpati and all of his staff, even when I was disappointed in myself.

And now the injectable Mounjaro, a drug previously solely used for treating diabetes, has been approved for weight loss. This is an incredible gift. And Dr Tumpati, who has always been on the forefront of ways he can help his patients, has welcomed this treatment and is now using it regularly in his practice with people who have excess weight.

Dr. Tumpati started me on Mounjaro injections about 6 months ago, essentially as soon as it was approved for use to assist with weight loss. Dr. Tumpati has always put his patients first, always seeking better ways to help and heal.

I am now experiencing a freedom with regard to food I never thought possible. For the first time in my life that drive is non-existent. I actually feel almost indifferent regarding food. I eat appropriate foods in appropriate amounts when I’m physically hungry, and the rest of the time I needn’t put much attention on it.

Also, seemingly effortlessly, the 20-30 pounds that continued to haunt me has disappeared, bringing me to what I have always felt would be my ‘ideal’ weight, though I never thought it possible.

It’s as if the Mounjaro was the missing piece in the puzzle and I am experiencing a relief I never dared imagine.

My BMI, as well as all of my vitals, could easily be that of a woman half my age. I feel amazing, and I’m rockin’ those size 6 jeans!

Thank you, Dr. Tumpati and W8MD!

01/23/2023

Medical weight loss is a type of weight loss program that is supervised and managed by a medical professional, typically a physician or a registered dietitian. These programs are designed to help individuals achieve weight loss through a combination of dietary changes, exercise, and, in some cases, medication including the new weight loss injections.

One of the key components of medical weight loss programs is a thorough evaluation of the individual's health status and weight loss goals. This evaluation typically includes a physical examination, laboratory tests, and a review of the individual's medical history. Based on this information, the medical professional will develop a personalized weight loss plan that takes into account the individual's unique needs and circumstances.

The dietary component of medical weight loss programs typically involves a combination of calorie restriction and nutrient-dense foods. Individuals may be given specific meal plans or recommendations for foods that are high in protein, low in carbohydrates, and low in fat. They may also be taught about portion control and mindful eating to help them control their food intake.

Exercise is also an important component of medical weight loss programs. Individuals may be given specific exercise recommendations based on their current fitness level and health status. They may also be encouraged to participate in regular physical activity, such as walking, cycling, or swimming.

In some cases, medication may be used as part of a medical weight loss program. This can include medications that suppress appetite or increase metabolism, or medications that target specific health conditions that may be contributing to weight gain. Medications used for weight loss should always be prescribed by a healthcare professional and taken under their supervision.

It's important to note that medical weight loss programs are not a quick fix or a magic solution. They require commitment and lifestyle changes, and the individual should be prepared to make long-term changes to their diet and exercise habits. Additionally, it's important to find a qualified and experienced healthcare professional to help you with your weight loss journey.

Every holiday season, most Americans gain a couple of pounds conveniently termed the holiday weight gain. If you are tired of being heavy, and need a board certified doctor to help you, we have over 10 years of experience.

There are many different ways to approach a weight control diet, and the best approach for you will depend on your individual needs and goals. In general, a healthy weight loss diet should include a balance of nutrients and should be based on real, whole foods. Here are a few tips to help you create a healthy weight loss diet:

Focus on nutrient-dense foods: Choose foods that are high in nutrients and low in calories. These include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats.

Eat plenty of fiber: Fiber helps you feel full and satisfied, which can help you eat less overall. Good sources of fiber include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and beans.

Drink plenty of water: Water can help you feel full and can also help flush out excess toxins from your body. Aim to drink at least eight glasses of water per day.

Limit added sugars and refined grains: These types of foods are high in calories and low in nutrients. Instead, choose whole, unprocessed foods as much as possible.

Be mindful of portion sizes: Even healthy foods can contribute to weight gain if you eat too much of them. Pay attention to portion sizes and aim to eat until you are satisfied, rather than stuffed.

It's also a good idea to speak with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian for personalized advice on creating a weight loss diet that is right for you.

On June 4th, 2021, U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved ( ) weekly injection.

This under-the-skin injection is the first approved drug for chronic weight management in adults with general obesity or overweight since 2014.

The drug is indicated for chronic management in patients with a body mass index (BMI) of 27 kg/m2 or greater who have at least one weight-related ailment or in patients with a BMI of 30 kg/m2 or greater.

As it is just once a week, with excellent weight loss results in general, this drug is getting popular.

At W8MD, we are glad to say we offer this as one of the many options available to our patients.

Although new drugs can be a bit pricy, we have coupons that can bring the cost down to as low as $25 a month with commercial insurances.

Got the other -19?(Weight gain of 19 lbs?)

During the ongoing COVID-19 , many people are due to , , lack of exercise etc.

Unfortunately, obesity is one of the major risk factors for not only getting COVID-19, but also at risk of getting a more complications, and even death from COVID.

As we get ready for , which I highly recommend for COVID 19, I wanted to bring to your attention a few things you could do to optimize your health as more and more studies show the role obesity is playing in increasing the risk of a person for COVID-19.

In fact, a recently published study from New York that looked at all the patients admitted to the hospital with COVID-19 found the following three risk factors:
elevated
and

If you think about the above three, both high blood pressure and diabetes are also related to obesity that all these three risk factors can be reduced by losing weight.

TELE HEALTH NOW AVAILABLE FOR WEIGHT LOSS
Given the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, telemedicine is now available for both existing and new patients where you can consult with us over the phone, with or without video for .

Program fee: As a concierge practice, our weight loss program always had a program fee of about $100.00 per month on top of insurance. In an effort to ease the burden, we reduced the fee for the patients for those that have insurance that we accept using tele-medicine option to $50.00 and there are no additional fees such as copays. For self-pay patients, the monthly telemedicine program fee is $100.00.

How does it work?
For televisits, you need to have a scale, a home blood pressure monitor or check BP at a local pharmacy prior to the televisit. We will call in any prescription medications as appropriate to a local pharmacy. We also offer in person visits in the office as prior.

Given obesity is a major risk factor for over 50 different medical problems including COVID-19, it is not only important but vital to stay at optimal health to stand a fighting chance with this virus.

Online diet plan on .org
We also decided to make the entire plan along with recipes available online through a free medical encyclopedia called WikiMD.org. The W8MD weight loss diet plan is now available free at http://www.wikimd.org/wiki/W8MD_weight_loss_diet

Up to 90% of traditional diet advice wrong
Did you know that up to 90% of the traditional nutritional advice was proven wrong in a research study?

In another large British study of studies that reviewed 72 academic studies involving more than 600,000 participants, they found that saturated fat consumption was not associated with coronary disease risk.

Changing dietary recommendations
Are you aware that the American Heart Association no longer recommends specific target level for dietary cholesterol as study after study showed no increased risk of cardiovascular risk from dietary cholesterol?(Most of the blood which does increase the risk comes from our own liver manufactured from sugar induced by insulin, although your doctor might still be telling you the same old things just as the failed food pyramid did?). It is a shocking to know that most physicians receive little or no nutrition education in their training.

Unfortunately, these wrong dietary recommendations are one of the main reasons behind astronomical rise of insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes with dramatic increase in type 2 diabetes.

Evidence based practice
W8MD medical weight loss centers program has over 10 years of experience in helping patients not only to lose weight but also to maintain it using evidence based medicine.

To schedule an appointment either telemedicine or in person, please call 718 946 5500 for NY office and 215-676-2334 for PA and New Jersey patients or visit our website at http://www.W8MD.com
