Crohn’s disease and IBS are both common GI conditions with similar symptoms, and it can be easy to confuse the two. But don’t be fooled—they’re not the same! Different treatments are required for each condition, so getting the right diagnosis is key to feeling better and avoiding bigger problems down the road.

@jennseracuse: “I know firsthand how hard it can be to get back moving after a Crohn’s (or any IBD) flare, but I will say, Pilates has saved my life multiple times helping me rebuild strength both physically and mentally to get back on my feet. This short sequence can be done anywhere, even right next to your bed or couch. Start slow and build and before you know it you’ll be ready to get back to the activities you love!
💪 Belly Breathing (8-10 breaths)
Inhale to expand all the way around your waist and into the back and sides of your ribs. Exhale to bring everything back into the center. This should feel like you are giving your abdomen a big hug on every exhale (which, it probably could use).
💪 Marching (8-10 each side)
Continue your breaths and add lifting one leg at a time off the ground, trying to keep the hips still.
💪 Side Lying Series (6-10 of each variation)
Keep the hips stacked and as still as possible during all movements.
Lift & Lower
Add Press
Sweep forward and back
Add small circles
REPEAT other side
💪 Bird Dogs (8-10 each side)
On hands and knees lift alternating arm and leg to balance. *If both arm and leg is too much, just do the legs to start
💪 Mermaid (6-10 each side)
Sitting on the mat with one leg in front and one bent back, side bend to one side then the other stretching the top arm overhead to lengthen the side waists.
I truly hope this inspires you to move and that you feel stronger when you do! Be well!! 😘”
