Profile:
I first discovered yoga over fifteen years ago when I worked at gyms as a weight room instructor and instructor for group exercise. At the time, I enjoyed yoga as a complement to other workout routines, enjoying the benefits of stretching and relaxation that occurred during the sessions. I participated in a wide range of classes from Ashtanga, to Hatha, to Hot Yoga. However, it wasn’t until seven years ago that I became truly committed to yoga, as a result of continuing injuries from training and a particularly stressful time in my life. Not only did yoga help me in improving my strength and flexibility, but I was drawn by the philosophical and spiritual approach to the asana (physical) practice, whereby yoga becomes more than just a gym routine, but can be applied to all facets of life. I then went on to discover Power or Vinyasa Flow yoga and loved the athletic, demanding routine, coupled with creativity and spiritual teachings. I completed my intial teacher training course in 2011. I have since been teaching in gyms, studios, and privately throughout London. I teach in the corporate world as well using yoga as a platform for instilling mindfulness and well-being. Since my original training, I continuously strive to carry on learning and growing in order to deepen and enrich my own practice and of course that of my clients. Besides yoga, I have always had a fascination with and a love for food. Optimal nutrition is so important for creating and sustaining health and well-being. I also believe that besides meeting our nutritional needs, the kind of relationship we develop with food is important as food fulfills so much more than just a basic biological need. Therefore, in addition to yoga, I decided to become a Nutritional Therapist. In order to truly be able to tap into our potential and live a life whereby we are able to create well-being, we need to recognize that the foods that we put into our body affects our energy, moods, and overall health just as much as the exercise we take and the spiritual practices we develop. My main aim with Embrace Your Edge is to help any individual, group, or organisation who would like to use yoga, nutrition, meditation, and/or mindfulness as a means for increasing overall health and well-being. To embrace your edge means to literally step outside your comfort zone in order to be an active participant in creating the life you want. I firmly believe that to do this, we need to start with ourselves by creating health, vitality, compassion, and self-belief. Yoga, nutrition, and growing self-awareness are fantastic tools to support us on this journey.
