It is not working and it’s not going to work.” Well, we believe in Calypso’s Combs, so we came up with a solution to overcome any hesitancy you may be having! Not only did we design our combs to lovingly nurture your hair, we implemented a visible aspect to immediately show you all that time and energy you’ve been putting into those lovely locks. With no more excuses, you have no more problems achieving your dream hair. Together, the founders of Calypso’s Combs came together and created an entirely new combing experience. As you comb through your hair, the absorbent nature of the teeth will pick up all the excess oils in your hair and redistribute them to the areas most in need. At the end of your combing session, you’ll find a buildup of the natural oils found in your hair at the base of the brush. Not only that, but after a few sessions of combing your hair, you’ll start to notice that the teeth will become darker as it absorbs more oil. You read that right. Your comb will actually show the progress you are making with your hair. Why not have a trophy for something you already do every day? If we were not already happy with the design, the wooden nature of our combs means they are entirely biodegradable, so if you ever want to get rid of your comb (though we are fairly certain you would never want to!) you can throw it out without fear of the environmental impact. Now, a comb finally exists that uses the natural nature of your hair, with a biodegradable, eco-friendly design that is sure to impress in more ways than one. We always want to provide you with the tools to achieve healthy, shiny, soft hair, but we also want to give you some encouragement along the way. As much as we believe in our combs, we believe in you just as much. About our Name: The name Calypso’s Combs was derived from ancient Greek mythology. Calypso was a nymph who kept Odysseus from returning home after the battle of Troy. Nymphs are depicted as women who are young, beautiful spirits that can control nature. Calypso’s Combs embodies the idea behind her story by creating a comb worthy of her use. After all, she did manage to keep Odysseus away from home for seven years, so she must have had a key to her success.

The Original Calypso Comb
A Calypso Comb combines a Burmese Blackwood handle with Paulownia “Princess Tree” wood teeth. The absorbent nature of the Paulownia teeth means that it functions most closely to a boar bristle brush but with some major improvements. Calypso’s Combs penetrate deeply throughout the hair, picking up oils where they are in excess and redistributing them to the areas where they are needed most. Unlike with boar bristle brushes, our combs spread the oils throughout all of your hair and not just on the surface. The comb’s rigid teeth are specifically contoured to allow the comb to reach the base of the hair with each stroke creating smoother, silkier hair.
