Hello Family 👋🏾 I have some new followers so thought I would re-introduce myself. My name is Kimberley and I’m a certified Holistic Creative Therapist - which is just a fancy way of saying that I use creativity as a therapeutic tool for better wellbeing and mental health. In fact, I would even say that creativity is an ESSENTIAL tool for all human beings to thrive.
After leaving university with a degree in Criminology and Psychology, I moved quickly up the corporate ladder until I felt like I was losing myself despite gaining many of the successes I was told would make me happy. I made an impulsive decision to jump on a one-way flight to Australia and began to break through my own mental limitations of what is possible in life.
Fast forward to 2020, in the midst of lockdown and with less distractions, I was quickly catapulted into the depths of my internal world. My perspective on many things shattered and I no longer felt anchored into a clear identity. It was at this point that through the chaos, I began to reach for the forgotten tools that were a key part of my childhood.
I began painting again, dancing around the house, singing and playing musical instruments for fun. Something was reignited in me that I had neglected for over a decade. During those processes, I felt happier, calmer and more myself than ever.
Some soul searching and a serendipitous chain of events led to me making the decision to pivot my career altogether, studying again for another year and becoming certified to help people rediscover the same parts of themselves that I had.
In 2022, I moved to Mexico and immediately began putting the things I had learned into practice by facilitating therapeutic art workshops for retreats at a wellness centre. Here is where I really saw how powerful creativity can be as a tool for better wellbeing.
Now back in the UK, I run workshops for both adults and children, prioritising the use of natural materials and outdoor settings. Sometimes I incorporate holistic tools such as meditation and breathwork, depending on the goal. I am reminded EVERY time that creativity is as important as breathing air when it comes to living a balanced life.
