Is a sugar craving always just a lack of willpower? 🤔

When patients or clients experience intense sugar and carbohydrate cravings, it’s often driven by physiological and biochemical signals, such as inadequate protein intake, blood sugar fluctuations, or neurochemical reward pathways.

Simply telling your patients to "eat less sugar" rarely works without addressing the root cause. As healthcare professionals, understanding the underlying mechanisms of food addiction and carbohydrate dependency is key to guiding patients toward sustainable metabolic health.

Your calorie count isn’t the full story. 🧬

Metabolic flexibility: The ability to switch seamlessly between burning glucose and fat as your body’s needs change, is at the core of true metabolic health. It’s not about calories in vs. calories out. It’s about how well your body adapts.

Swipe through to see what the science says about:
→ Why metabolic health goes beyond caloric balance
→ How insulin keeps your blood sugar steady across your liver, muscle, and fat
→ Why losing the ability to switch fuels is a hallmark of metabolic disease

Want to turn this science into a career? Our Certifications are 30% off this October only. Join the growing community of certified Nutrition Network coaches and healthcare professionals 🎓

Yesterday, we had a very special and celebratory time together with a sample of our dedicated VIP partners, lecturers, NNPs and team. We shared our plans and growth vision for NN and also our intention and vision to scale and expand our ever important, growing work as a social enterprise.

Seeing our community gather is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together, what amazing and passionate people we have around us and how big our work is. We need each other and we are in this together, one person, one story and one decision at a time.

The future is bright!

We are proud to highlight our Nutrition Network certified practitioner, Romina Tollerutti, and her incredible, root-cause approach to patient care. Romina shared her core philosophy on how to achieve sustainable results:

"Rather than asking patients to fit into a one-size-fits-all plan, I focus on understanding the whole picture and identifying realistic changes that fit their health needs, preferences, and everyday lives. I have advanced training in metabolic health and therapeutic carbohydrate restriction and incorporate these approaches when clinically appropriate.."

Utilizing advanced training in metabolic health and therapeutic carbohydrate restriction when clinically appropriate, Romina looks at everything from sleep and stress to daily routines to help her patients thrive.

Milk is milk... or is it?
Conventional supermarket milk is often homogenised and can be fortified with synthetic vitamins. Milk from grass-fed, pasture-grazed cows tells a different story, with a richer, beta-carotene coloured fat that reflects what the animal actually ate.
What a cow eats shapes the milk it produces. And for patients exploring whole food, full-fat dairy can be a simple, satisfying part of a metabolic health approach.
Help your patients look beyond the carton.
