❤️ AN UPDATE ON THE STICKER STORY…
I honestly didn’t expect my little sticker story to open up such a big conversation about motherhood, guilt and the pressure we put on ourselves as mamas.
Since sharing it, I’ve received some of the most beautiful, kind messages from mamas who reminded me that we’re all just trying our best for our children. And then, on the other hand, I’ve received some really harsh comments, too.
But something beautiful happened.
A mama from our very own Mzansi Mama community reached out and gifted Jack his very own sticker book that was sponsored by someone else, along with some doubles to help him get started. And guess what? She even included a GOLDEN OROS STICKER! 🥹❤️
So now, BOTH my children have their own golden Oros stickers. And Jack has his own sticker book to enjoy and collect with.
And honestly, that’s what this is all about.
I also want to clear something up because some comments suggested that I took Jack’s sticker away and gave it to Emma.
That simply isn't what happened.
We weren't actively collecting stickers, and I hadn't handed each child a sticker and said, “This one is yours.” They were playing with both stickers together. It wasn't a case of me deliberately taking something special from my son and giving it to my daughter.
But social media doesn't show every angle of a story. You see a little snippet of someone's day, a moment in their home, and you don't see everything that happened before or after.
And sometimes, we forget that there's a real person, a real mama, on the other side of that screen.
We are all just mamas trying our best.
We get things right. We get things wrong. We have moments where we feel guilty, moments where we question ourselves, and moments where we wish we could do things differently.
Motherhood is already hard enough without feeling like every little moment is being judged by strangers who don't know the full story.
The beautiful messages I've received have reminded me why I created Mzansi Mama Village in the first place.
I wanted a space where mamas could feel supported. Where we could share our struggles without fear of being shamed. Where we could lift one another up instead of tearing each other down.
A village where we remember that behind every post is a mama doing the best she can with what she has in that moment.
To every mama who sent me a kind message, shared her own story or reminded me that I'm not alone, thank you. I've read your messages, and they've meant more than you know.
Let's be the village we all need.
Let's be kinder to one another. Let's give each other grace. And let's remember that we don't have to be perfect mamas to be good mamas. ❤️
Love,
Rochelle xx
