Iqarus has deployed a specialist 19-person medical and operational team to the Democratic Republic of the Congo in support of the response to Ebola.

The team has established a dedicated quarantine, isolation and holding capability. It provides a safe environment for the assessment and management of individuals suspected of Ebola virus disease, supported by stringent infection prevention and control measures and coordinated pathways for onward care.

Now fully operational, the deployment brings together medical, nursing, infection prevention and control, operational and support expertise. It demonstrates Iqarus' ability to rapidly mobilise and establish specialist healthcare capability in the most complex operating environments.

Last week, members of the International SOS and Iqarus teams attended the British Forces in Business Awards.

The awards celebrate the achievements of veterans in civilian careers while recognising the value they bring to organisations across every sector. They also provide an important opportunity to strengthen connections between industry and the Armed Forces community, highlighting the skills, experience and leadership that veterans and reservists bring to civilian organisations.

As the teams begin their journey home from Tristan da Cunha, our involvement in the recent Hantavirus response is coming to an end.

Following the outbreak, clinicians from Iqarus supported the island alongside the Falkland Islands Government and the local healthcare team. With the island's medical staff now out of isolation, healthcare services have been successfully handed back to the local team.

Our thanks to everyone involved in the response and to the people of Tristan da Cunha for their support and hospitality over the past six weeks.

Despite the weather not cooperating and a few route changes along the way, Derek and the team have successfully completed Operation Peak Resilience.

Over 4 days they tackled Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), combining the National Three Peaks Challenge with hundreds of miles of cycling between summits to raise awareness of men's mental health and the challenges many veterans face as they transition to civilian life.

The weather clearly didn't get the memo.

Despite some pretty horrendous conditions, the team have completed Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). The route has had to change and some of the cycling miles have had to be cut, but the challenge very much continues.

Today, Iqarus Senior Operations Manager Derek begins Operation Peak Resilience – a four-day expedition combining the National Three Peaks Challenge with nearly 500 miles of cycling between summits.
Alongside a team of fellow veterans, Derek will tackle Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), covering 13,200 feet of ascent and 495 miles of road transit in a challenge designed to raise awareness of men's mental health and the challenges many veterans face as they transition to civilian life.
We're pleased to support Derek and the team with equipment and medical supplies and look forward to following their progress over the coming days.
