Today, our Oncology Department, the PanTum team, and the Integrative Medicine Department came together to explore how PanTum Detect can complement our established approach to early cancer detection and support the coordinated care pathways already in place for our patients.
PanTum Detect is a blood-based screening test intended for asymptomatic adults. It evaluates two biomarkers, Apo10 and TKTL1, within circulating immune cells. Abnormal results may indicate biological changes associated with a possible solid tumour and help identify patients who may benefit from further investigation.
PanTum does not diagnose cancer or identify its location. A positive result requires appropriate clinical assessment and targeted imaging, while routine guideline-based cancer screening remains essential.
Its potential benefit lies in adding another layer of screening, particularly for cancers for which no routine population screening currently exists. By combining innovative testing with oncology expertise, imaging, and individualized patient assessment, the goal is to investigate concerning findings earlier and guide patients through the appropriate next steps.
Early detection must be evidence-informed, carefully interpreted, and supported by a multidisciplinary clinical team.
