🎉 Congratulations to Aneurin Bevan University Health Board in Cwmbran, Wales, UK, on achieving IASIOS accreditation!

We congratulate Dr. Nimit Goyal, Dr. Rebecca Wallace and the entire Gwent IR team based at Grange University Hospital on reaching this important milestone.

Through the accreditation process, the team has demonstrated that its interventional oncology service meets internationally recognised standards across patient care, treatment planning, safety and quality assurance. This achievement reflects a commitment to structured clinical workflows, multidisciplinary collaboration and the continuous improvement of patient care.

We look forward to following the team's continued progress and contributions to advancing interventional oncology in Wales and beyond.

🎀 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 Awareness is often associated with recognising breast cancer and detecting it early. But awareness also matters after diagnosis - when patients begin navigating their treatment options.
Breast cancer care can involve many different specialists and approaches, with treatment tailored to the individual patient.
For selected patients, 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲, using minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to treat certain tumors or metastatic disease and to help manage cancer-related symptoms.
Whatever the treatment pathway, patients should be at the center of decisions about their care, supported by specialists working together.

This , we join the global effort to increase understanding of breast cancer and the care available to those affected.

🔹Was process standardization the key argument that finally got leadership to say yes?

🔹Your hospital already has tons of accreditations - why bother adding IASOS?

🔹Do you really have to write brand-new SOPs from scratch, or can you reuse existing ones?

🔹Who handles the heavy lifting - can doctors delegate the paperwork to radiographers and nurses?

🔹What single mistake made the application twice as hard as it needed to be?

💚 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵: When we talk about liver cancer treatment, there is rarely one pathway that applies to every patient.

Treatment decisions can bring together hepatology, medical oncology, surgery, interventional radiology and other specialties, considering not only the cancer itself but also the patient's liver function and overall health.

Within this multidisciplinary approach, 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲, providing image-guided treatments that can directly target tumours.

However, providing such treatments goes well beyond the procedure itself. Patient selection, multidisciplinary decision-making, treatment planning, safety, follow-up and evaluation of outcomes all contribute to high-quality care.

This , we are highlighting the importance of multidisciplinary, quality-focused care and the different treatment possibilities available to patients with liver cancer.

By taking this step, the interventional radiology team at Stadtspital Zürich begins working towards IASIOS accreditation, with its interventional oncology service evaluated against the CIRSE Standards of Quality Assurance in Interventional Oncology.
